Any non-profit who engages in politics, yes.

Churches enjoy tax-exempt status in part because of the separation of church & state. If the church decides to engage in politics, fine. But treat them like any other organization at that point and tax them.

These women have other clothes than their habits. They have every right to attend a political event - but wearing the habit is an overt statement linking their faith with their politics. That they chose to link the two is an issue.

What about someone from a nonprofit where their religion requires them to dress a certain way? Should they be allowed to attend a political event without jeopardizing their organization’s nonprofit status?

Maybe it's about time we rethink the tax exempt status of the church.

Can you elaborate on this? I can’t really tell why you would come to that conclusion from this tweet. Are you saying this because nuns are showing up at Trump events?

Removing tax exempt status from churches would be an interesting move. Would you propose removing that status from any nonprofit with religious affiliations of any kind?

So with the news of the Illinois positives (presumably from playing Wisconsin last Friday) ... glad we aren't exposing our team to that this weekend.

Why would we presume it was from playing Wisconsin?

Just when I was thinking the QBs behind Fields didn't look amazing, y'all are the favorites for another #1 QB recruit. Young and highly rated though the current backups are, they didn't scream "game-changers" to me even as recruits. Maybe they will be though, and if not Ewers would be there.

I think CJ Stroud has a possibility to develop into something special but we will see. Developing QBs isn't an exact science so you stock up when you can.

So do our players that were supposed to be out for the first half get to come back fully for nw? Big ten doesn’t address that in policy to my knowledge. Would be really unfortunate if they were held out

They shouldn't have been kicked out of the OSU game. The B1G could do the right thing and just count the suspensions towards the Wisconsin game but they won't do that.

  6. @TGHusker, I think Piper nails it in his response. I also think the church in the US needs to be pruned and it needs to distance itself from the politics it finds itself in. For some reason the church fears the government (or who might be in charge or the government) a lot more than standing before the God they claim to follow. It is probably a good time for the church in the US to repent and work out their faith.

  7. Targeting is ruining the game. Kicking kids out of a game for a borderline call is stupid and it is changing the outcome of some games as well as the following game.

Nebraska was a lot more physical this year. They need to be able to throw the ball down the field.

If Ohio State can't find a RB that can run the ball, they aren't going to win a NC. The freshman WRs are going to be very good.

That's a fair point.  But they still pretty much could.  Doing a quick roster scan with rankings, Texas has 5 - 5*, A&M has 4 - 5*, Auburn has 2 - 5*, USC has 5 - 5*.  I know those were just some examples you were throwing out but the point still stands that Ohio State is head and shoulders above pretty much everyone besides Bama when it comes to recruiting rankings.  And actually, they have Bama beat in number of 5*'s.  Bama has 12.

This isn't to say Day isn't a good coach bc he very well could be but I really don't think it takes a whole lot of coaching acumen when you are that loaded.

I think it is more about finding the right person for the job. You could have a coach with the highest coaching acumen in the world, but if they can't handle coaching at a place like Ohio State, they won't last long. The trick is finding a great coach that can handle the pressure of working at a place like OSU.

Holy Crap....does this surprise anyone? 1600 is about 10x more than I was expecting haha

I am sure there will be plenty social distancing since the place holds 106k. I remember being in there for a state track meet in the 90s. That was before the expansion and before they permanently closed the open end of the shoe. It felt very empty then, and I am sure it is going to look empty in the current configuration with < 2000 people in the stands.

I'm not jaws and am also curious for his thoughts, but I work with a lot of OSU fans. Sounds like it'll be more of a rotation, but it's a bunch of 4 and 5 star guys. Best chance at being anything like Chase Young is Zach Harrison, he is freakishly talented but was very raw last year. He ran 4.47 and jumped almost 38 inches at 253 lbs as a high schooler at a Nike camp. Their DL coach is phenomenal as well, so now as a sophomore he could be a problem. Also might see some Javontae Jean-Baptiste, who I think is one of the guys that has made this board so skeptical of "silent commits" - wasn't he coming here at one point?

That about sums it up. Harrison was pretty much tagged as Young's replacement when he stepped on campus. It will be interesting to see if he can make the jump like both Bosas and Young did.

Here is a write up on the OSU defense. https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football/2020-season-preview/2020/10/117256/key-players-breakout-candidates-and-expectations-for-ohio-states-defense

Looking to the future, Jack Sawyer is the next in the line of freak athletes at defensive end. He will early enroll in December.
