  1. NEBRASKANHEAT; That shirt is so stressed that the numbers are crackin'.....
  2. jaws I read your link. Did you??? My first post was simply a joke. I really thought that was clear, so it really doesn't matter. But it does state clearly a former member with dates and all. Former Member Location Founded Member of Big Ten Affiliation Undergrad Enrollment Nickname Varsity Teams NCAA Championships (as a member) Big Ten Championships University of Chicago Chicago, Illinois 1890 1896-1946 Private/Non-sectarian 5,027 Maroons 19 1 73 The University of Chicago was a co-founder of the conference and still maintains affiliation through the Committee on Institutional Cooperation.
  3. Would you care to name them for me????
  4. If the Big X only takes Nebraska then it could be the Big XII. If the Pac Ten takes only the Buff's then it would be like the Big X was "the Pac Ten + one. Then the rest of the Big XII stands pat they could be the Big X... Kind like ring around the rosy!!! :laughpound
  5. One second has absolutely nothing to do with us moving to the Big Ten....
  6. I really don't understand all this about the exodus from the rust belt. Are people moving out? Yep, sure looks that way... But if you set academics aside and are looking at the athletic side of the money... First thing, the large percentage of what I'm reading on these many threads is number of TV sets turned to the Big X Network, on game day. Ok, here is the part I don't get.. If your a born and bred Husker, Hawkeye, Buckeye(you get the picture). And let's say, economic circumstances force you to move to Arizona. Are you all of the sudden gonna be a Sun Devil??? I know I for one would still be wearing Husker shirts daily and anticipating football Saturday. Now on top of that here is a scenario I have seen first hand. I have 2 real good friends one now lives in Houston and the other lives in Phoenix. I have been to both of their houses for Big Red Football. Not only are they avid Husker fans but BOTH have recruited non-Nebraskan football fanatics. I was in Houston for the Virginia Tech game and my buddy had 18 people over to the game. Including he and I, four people had Nebraska ties, most of the rest were Houston natives. I kinda figured most of these folks were good actors and just there for the party.(bro throws a good party, he's a just bring yourself kinda fan). Well I was totally wrong these folks knew the players, the coaches, the fight song, REAL FANS. At the end they were finger nail biting, stand up screamin', pacin' true blue Husker fans. no actin' no way. So the way I see it we would be really screwin' Texas and USC with a move to the Big X if even 1/2 of the Wolverine and Nittany Lion fans are as rabid as the Proud Big Red fans... Quite a rant huh??? To the FANS. :worship
  7. You must be a masochist bro.
  8. Not to much of a rumor. I just saw it on ESPN's "College Football Live"
  9. That's a darn good post right there knap. Hope ya don't mind if I expound. You have named 7 teams there, but ya can't go to much further without mentioning, Penn State, Michigan and dear ole NU. Now IF ND and NU would join the Big X that makes 5 of the top brand names in the country in the same conference. Think it'll sell???
  10. A great thing about this board (and Husker fans in general) is that we welcoming to fans of other teams and we are knowledgable about football. In five minutes of your request, you got 6 replies from 6 different posters, many with links. I really like that discussions are often backed up with links and sources (our line out weighs your line by 34.3 pounds and has on average 3 more starts per person), and very little "because your line couldn't block my mama" arguments that are so prevalent on other boards. And members are held up to high standards as far as personal attacks.Welcome aboard.I expected no less. you guys LIVE this stuff. this is why we want you in our conference (G*d willing).Well Buckeye7..I hope we see you on the field very soon and every year after. Looking forward to a hard fought rivalry with Ohio St and others in the Big Ten. Hope they wrap this all up for us soon. I think we will stand up well to the SEC. Probably every other year. I doubt we'd be in the same division.(I hope there is enough teams for 2 divisions.) But we could play twice in some years, once in the regular season and again in the conference championship game.. Now that would be fun....
  11. I'm falling for the trap. Redneck. Do you think an undefeated champion of the revamped Big Ten would play for a national title???? Check yes or no...Yep.I just don't think we'll be that competitive in the Big 10 over the long haul - certainly no more so than say Iowa or Wisconsin - there's not that much that really separates us from them to begin with once we make this transition. Hope I'm totally wrong. Ok, then I am confused. In Big 10 in the Here We Come thread.... You posted.. In response to the strength of the Big 10. ahhh the best laid plans. Aside from us and tOSU, I wouldn't put any of these teams in the "powerhouse" class. Joke is more like it. You been wanting explanations. Your turn. Explain please. And one more? What is it you don't get about the CIC and the CIC money. You act as if it's something somebody made-up..
  12. I wonder if Beebe has big enough bb's in his sack to give Texas an ultimatum. My guess is no..
  13. I'm falling for the trap. Redneck. Do you think an undefeated champion of the revamped Big Ten would play for a national title???? Check yes or no...
  14. Might as well combine all of these Conference Expansion threads into one.... Same people sayin' the same stuff. Hard to tell which one I've read. I will bet that those who have decided what they want to happen, aren't going to change their mind. You could type till your fingers are calloused and not change one persons mind. All that being said... It doesn't matter what one goes to a game to watch, money will be the major deciding factor... IF we get the invite we go.. And I will still be a huskalova period end of story. We are on the way back and what conference we are in will not determine the number of National Championships in the future... GO BIG RED. Big 12 or Big 10. GO BIG RED....
  15. Hopefully we can get these guys with good speed and great feet, not to mention size, year in and year out... That way Barney won't be coaching a m*a*s*h* unit. And people can get off his a$$. And ya got give Barney credit, never made excuses all year.
  16. RedNeck, bro, I think it's plain that you really hate the idea of going to the Big 10.... Me, I don't give a rat's patoot one way or the other. I am positive of one thing. There will be BIG RED FOOTBALL on Saturday, and that team will become my rivalry of the week. I think you are hearing what you want to hear. And reading what you want to read. I can't see TO's comments as leaning or telling in either directions. I hope you realize it's just an opinion and if we stay in the Big 12 fine, and you'll be happy. Just hear what is being said about the money, not only athletically but academically. And the jump seems likely, IF we get an offer. I'm and old man. I remember not being to hip on the idea of screwin' with the old Big 8.
  17. I like this one too. Go TO. He is so good at being totally and probably brutally honest, in the nicest possible way. Still, in reviewing the week's work ahead, he wryly suggested that it may pay to "tape your ankles.'' I can't figure out how to do that quote thingy just usin' a portion of the post. I am poster illiterate...
  18. My first thought was no problem. But in some twisted way I hope we don't. That would mean we will be playing in a much, much better bowl game. Of course some how I've got it worked out so we are not playing Arizona, just in Arizona... Either way it won't be easy. duh
  19. I didn't think I'd have to do this but I already +1'ed your post. I've seen a LOT of UT fans that say the things you said . . . but they are serious. I think I tickled myself more than others... I lmao the whole time I was typin'. Oh well...
  20. He was a name that was coming up a lot this spring. I think the coaches are pretty high on him. I am expecting him to contribute this next year as a top reserve. He was even mentioned some last year as a freshmen right on the edge of getting playing time. If a CB had gone down he may have been bumped up to play. Thanks, pretty much what I thought, but I'm an old man and sometimes suffer from oldtimers disease.
  21. Come, come now. Don't yawll know you're supposed to cower down to UT.... Now everybody get in line and keep quiet. No more talk of leaving the conference. No, no, we won't have any talk of Big Twelve Television. Don't you know that we are gonna have a UT Network and keep all the money. Yep kinda like we do now, that thar conference split is a gooood deal for yawll.... Oh yeah by the way the CCG is gonna be in our back yard and yawll better like that too. Because if ya don't tough bowel movement... Besides just ask the Big Twelve big dummy and he'll tell ya how it's gonna go, get on the plane or deboard. As for the last CCG. Do you know how lucky yawll were to be in that game. If poor ole Colt wasn't harassed all day by that thar N dam knog Suh feller, you know he woulda found his Broke Back Mountain buddy, errr, I mean his fishin' friend. Now yawll get back up thar north where ya belong and stay in line... And don't ya like how they call the new qb GG. Ain't that special. And maybe somewhat limp wristed.
  22. In a post track meet interview he said he was hoping to hear from the Huskers. Now I'm sure he has heard from NU, he meant offer wise.
  23. I have a question that no one probably has an answer to, but maybe a little insight. Brother Andrew red shirted last year. Does anybody have any idea how things are shaping up for him to get on the field this year? I think he has good things to say about the Huskers at least as far as the public knows. Don't know if this would have anything to do with anything, just curious...
