  1. looking at the Huskers' 2009 results, this game stands out as an anomaly (in terms of margin of victory). can anyone tell me more about what happened? did NU have a lot of penalties and mistakes that day, or did TT just simply play better than NU did? the next week, Nebraska imploded at home against I-State. were people here calling for Pellini's head on these boards?
  2. where does Lincoln fall on the cultural scale between 'typically Midwestern' and 'Redneck'? i will admit some folks over here are saying 'why are we letting these cornfed yahoos in our league?' and forgetting that you can go 5 miles outside the Columbus city limits and feel like you are in Alabama or something...
  3. i've been to all of 'em...what do you wanna know?
  4. you Huskers will learn to hate the song 'Jump Around' on the road at Wisky and that stupid growling cat noise they use every time Penn State does something good... what else can i warn you about?...
  5. welcome, welcome, welcome. this is an awesome day for our conference. you have been asking about our stadiums in the B10. how about yours? the Shoe and the Big House are enormous, but they can kind of be full of a 'will you sit down, i'm trying to watch the game' kind of crowd. Camp Randall is the craziest crowd in the league, with Happy Valley a close 2nd. what kind of crowds does Nebraska have? big and polite or loud and crazy? are you quick to boo your own team?
  6. A great thing about this board (and Husker fans in general) is that we welcoming to fans of other teams and we are knowledgable about football. In five minutes of your request, you got 6 replies from 6 different posters, many with links. I really like that discussions are often backed up with links and sources (our line out weighs your line by 34.3 pounds and has on average 3 more starts per person), and very little "because your line couldn't block my mama" arguments that are so prevalent on other boards. And members are held up to high standards as far as personal attacks. Welcome aboard. I expected no less. you guys LIVE this stuff. this is why we want you in our conference (G*d willing).
  7. Everyone knows where Turner Gill ended up, but can I ask about some of the other really famous Huskers of yesteryear? Rozier, Fryar, Frost, Crouch, Frazier....are any of them still involved with NU? do any of them do games on radio or TV, for example? Thanks to anyone who takes the time to enlighten an outsider.
  8. thanks for all the replies, guys. this is great!
  9. Thanks for the kind words, folks. It's great to hear that some of you have an open mind to joining the B10 and might even see some positives to it. As a side note: most CFB fans are aware of Nebraska's tradition, NCs, Heismans and whatnot, but you know what put me in awe of the Huskers? When I was a little kid, NU played Minnesota and beat them 84-10 or 84-14 or something. I remember reading the newspaper box score of that game in total astonishment. I mean, Minnesota sucks but 84 points?! IIRC they scored 70-something in a game later that season. Can any of you hardcores tell me what year that was?
  10. the OP is wrong. i can't speak for the entire B10, but there are many here in Columbus who welcome NU as an equal in the quest to stick it to the SEC. and remember, we are supposedly numero uno in our conference. does Texas view NU so favorably? not as far as i can see...
  11. it's not about ND being better than NU, it just makes sense for Notre Dame to join the B10. it actually makes much more sense for the Big 12 to stay as is (except changing Texas' monopoly of power).
  12. as a lifelong B10er, i have to say that looks like a pretty good comparison.
  13. as an outsider I am aware of how good Niles Paul is, but how far behind him are Nebraska's other WRs?
  14. I am a tOSU grad and have lived in Columbus my whole life and I cannot tell you all how excited I and many others are that NU might be joining our conference. Even if (as we expect) the Huskers become a regular obstacle to the Buckeyes in the B10 standings, we cannot turn down the chance to strengthen the conference. B10 fans are tired of hearing the letters 'SEC' and hearing about how lame our conference is. We think adding NU will give us a giant credibility boost. I'm not going to BS you, ND is still almost everyone's first choice for league expansion over here (mostly because we hate them and want the chance to crush them every year), but we would be VERY excited to add Nebraska. BTW nobody cares about adding Mizzou at all....adding them gets a shrug of the shoulders.
