  1. I'm not saying they're special or anything, but they are close to us and it would just be fun to see teams we haven't seen in many years.
  2. Wisconsin Tennessee Alabama Purdue Wyoming Lots of different teams from different conferences. This would give us great exposure for recruiting.
  3. I'm getting excited, I just can't help myself! Anyone know when the schedule posters will be released for this season? I hang on in my office every year. I'm guessing Zac Taylor will be on the offense poster. Thanks
  4. What day does it start? Thanks
  5. No black on a Husker uniform! Scarlet & cream only!
  6. I'm listening to 1620 The Zone right now and they're talking about a throw back jersey day in college football. Does anyone know if this is really going to happen or is this just radio talk? I missed the first 20 minutes of the show. I hope this happens and I hope the Huskers wear the uniforms from 1971 with the shoulder stripes. I love that jersey!
  7. Can anyone recommend a good website to find Husker photos? Thanks
  8. There's no reason to not move the game one day to Sunday. This would allow more people to watch, as I'm sure a lot of Husker fans have to work on Saturdays and don't get to see many TV games. However, I don't think Pederson cares much for what the working person thinks.
  9. I agree. With Taylor I think great things could happen this year, but without Taylor we are in big trouble. I fear that Beck might not pan out. I'm not dissing him, but sometimes players just don't live up to the hype.
  10. If it's true that Spinelli is leaving the Husker basketball program, this does not speak well for the program. Spinelli must think he'll have a greater chance of advancing and winning at WSU than he does at NU. Also, I really think SP messed up by not replacing Collier with Spinelli. There is no reason for the University of Nebraska to have such a crummy men's basketball program.
  11. Just wondering if anyone knows the practice schedule that will be followed during spring camp. Thanks
  12. Other than the spring game, are any of the spring practices open to the public? Thanks
  13. Does anyone have any idea when tickets for the Spring Game will be offered? I would like to get good seats this year instead of general admission. Thanks
  14. Does anyone know if spring practices are open to the public?
  15. Back to the talk of uniforms - I would love to see us go back to those of the 1970s with the shoulder stripes and even the gray facemasks. Why not do it this season? What a great way to honor our past!
  16. Name non-conference teams you would love to see the Huskers play, if we didn't schedule so many cupcakes. Here's a few I'd like to see, in random order: Notre Dame Florida Georgia UCLA Air Force (or any service academy) Boston College Penn State Purdue
  17. Any idea on when the non-conference games for next fall will be announced? Thaks
  18. What date is the Spring Game? Also, any ideas on when our non-conference schedule for next season will be announced? I hope we're not playing cupcakes before and after USC, but more than likely that will be the case.
  19. Just wondering which team everyone would rather see Nebraska play, assuming we go to the Alamo Bowl. Personally I would like to see us play Michigan. I think it would be a bigger draw nationally. Iowa might be good for the two states, but nationally I would think Nebraska & Michigan would have more spark.
  20. I too am thrilled with the way we played against Colorado, but I see no reason to beat up on Scott Frost or anyone else who has been critical of the program. I really hope this win turns the program around, but until last Friday there wasn't a lot of be hopeful about. Being a fan doesn't mean wearing blinders.

    Beck

I'm just tossing this out there for conversation, but how many of you would like to see Beck start vs CU? The redshirt is gone, so why not? We're now going to a bowl game, so why not give Beck the start. It would be nice to get him some experience.
  22. Obviously we can't hire anyone with no coaching experience, but some day I would love to see Scott Frost on the sidelines. Another great one (if he had experience), would be Trev Alberts. He has passion and he loves the Huskers.
  23. Crouch isn't smart enough. Hire Scott Frost!
  24. From journalstar.com - Karl Vogel Almost two years ago, Nebraska athletic director Steve Pederson walked into a room in the upper reaches of Memorial Stadium and announced he had fired head football coach Frank Solich (who was 9-3 that season and heading toward a bowl game), not because Pederson was upset with the amount of wins or losses that the team was putting up, but rather because of “the overall direction of the program, and where I see it headed in the next five to 10 years.” Only a second later, Pederson explained his decision by saying, “I refuse to let this program gravitate to mediocrity.” Flash forward to Nov. 5, 2005, and Nebraska is 10-10 under Solich’s replacement and all of the glory, honor and tradition of the program is now a thing of the past. The streaks of dominance that have come to define this program for nearly a half-century, are now just the things I’m going to have to tell my children and grandchildren about when I try to explain that football in these parts was once something special and that this football program was once one of the premier programs in the history of the game. It’s not just that Kansas has ended a 36-year drought against Nebraska. It’s not just that the vaunted West Coast offense can’t even hit 200 yards against the Jayhawks. It’s that this program has done more than “gravitate to mediocrity,” it’s tumbled past medocrity like a man trying to grab a twig as he falls off the side of the Grand Canyon. When will the offensive line knock somebody down and open a hole for a running back or keep Zac Taylor from getting hit by a pass rusher? When will the defense stop someone? Where’s the bright future? Where are the signs that we can expect anything positive from this football team? If we, the fans, continue to buy into what has become the Spring Game fashion show for the WCO and expect great things when the team takes the field in the fall, then the university has done its job of persuading us that we should keep buying tickets and lining their pockets even though the product on the field hasn’t for a long, long time now been worthy of the high ticket prices. Until then, how about a few changes in the way things are done? Replace “Sirius” for the famed Tunnel Walk theme and replace it with the theme song from “Barney and Friends.” It’s at least a lot more apropos for the way this Husker team plays. And if the offensive coaches don’t intend to use the running game the way it was meant to be used (even in the WCO), then why even offer the pretense of putting a running back on the field? Just line up with five receivers on every down and chuck it as far as the quarterback’s arm allows. That couldn’t be any worse than what we’ve seen this season, could it? If anyone understands what this program means to the people of the state of Nebraska, it should be Pederson, a native of North Platte. He cut his administrative teeth in South Stadium and learned at the feet of Bob Devaney, Tom Osborne, Bill Byrne and “Fox” Bryant. Pederson had to know what all those streaks meant to us. Now, they’re all gone – save the ever-important Memorial Stadium sellout streak that is at 43 years and counting, but it, too, may not have long to live.
