  1. Now that's a cool idea...it would create tons of whining and moaning around the CCG but still an interesting concept. I like how the divisions all have teams of similar skill level save for Minn in the West and conform to some kind of geographic regions...its a "best of both worlds" kind of thing
  2. A CCG at Lambeau would be both incredibly awesome and incredibly sucky at the same time.
  3. Saying that Illinois will likely be more powerful than Penn State is like saying Kansas State will be more powerful than Oklahoma. It just isn't going to happen. One season? Maybe, but nothing more. I don't think its unreasonable to account for power shifts. College football is a dynamic sport and schools are constantly moving up and down the pecking order. I didn't mean to imply that the Illini would surpass PSU anytime soon but it's always possible. Something as simple as a coaching change can make everything different. Look no further than PSU itself...before Jo Pa the Nittany Lions were nothing to write home about...same with FSU and Bowden. On the flip-side of that you can see plenty of powerful programs that have fallen from past glory...Miss, Miami, A & M etc... Going way out on a limb and drawing conf. lines on such temporary standings when we have a more obvious geographic division to work with just seems like a bad idea to me.
  4. Agreed....just out of curiosity who do you diehard Huskers see as your eventual rival(s)? Someone already posted an article floating UW, U of M and Iowa as possibilities but how do you all see it?
  5. I'd say if they were to begin conf play this coming year they'd tie for 2nd with Iowa, coming in after OSU, though I won't speculate on personnel and system match-ups two years into the future, there are just too many unknowns. And as to Manhattan's rankings...I'm just surprised to see the Gophers as a 3 star team. I'd swap them with Illinois and PSU with Iowa but that's just me.
  6. However the rivalries develop is fine, just please don't anyone invent up some stupid meaningless contrived trophy for teams to fight over just for the sake of having a trophy. If an item happens to become the centerpiece of a rivalry that's cool and it only enriches the game but to force it on teams is just annoying and unauthentic. You can't invent tradition. No "Land Grant" trophies
  7. If that happens and the toughest team we have to beat is Iowa, might as well start looking for hotel rooms in Indy for our 2011 visit to the Big10 CCG. That's kind of the dilemma, do we want geographically coherent sub-conf divisions or do we want evenly matched divisions? Personally I'd rather see a clean East-West split and I would argue that Iowa isn't the only other contender in the East; Wisky is always strong and NW has a nasty history of upsetting great seasons. All of that said I still don't think that the Huskers would fall past 2nd even in the worst of years.
  8. Swap PSU and Illinois and it makes sense. It seems like its tailored to fit the current balance of power which is always subject to change.
  9. We could go back to the classic helmets to add a more distinctive flair but they eerily remind me of Speed Racer...I don't enjoy that.
  10. A little off topic here but still "strange news".... apparently FedEx is willing to pay $10 million a year to any BCS Conference that'll take Memphis. http://www.cbssports.com/general/story/13515726/fedex-ceo-could-provide-millions-if-bcsaffiliated-league-takes-memphis
  11. I attend a SEC member school(I'm originally from Big 10 country) and I have to say that most people around here are not too excited about a potential A & M move. That said I don't think public opinion counts for much; money is king and a chance to break into Texas is attractive so we'll see what happens.
  12. I always got them confused when I was a little kid.
  13. I can't wait to see the Huskers in Big 10 action, they've always been my favorite in the Big 12 and overall I think Nebraska's going to be a great addition to the Conference. It'll be interesting to see how the subdivisions of the conference fall into place.
