  1. Story from the Olathe Dailey News about Blake.... Nothing new really....does reiterate that Nebraska and Kansas are his two leaders http://www.olathedailynews.com/Sports_phot...o/Sports2.shtml
  2. Soda isn't coming to NU BY LEE BARFKNECHT WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER RELATED LINKS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- » NU Men's Basketball » Big 12 Men's Basketball Nebraska apparently has a 7-foot hole in its men's basketball roster for the coming season. Husker players at the Council Bluffs summer league on Wednesday night said 7-foot, 230-pound Toni Soda from The Patterson (N.C.) School isn't coming to Lincoln because he doesn't have the necessary course work to be eligible. NU coach Barry Collier traveled to Croatia last year to secure Soda's commitment and meet his parents. When Soda signed last November, he was listed as a four-star recruit out of five stars by rivals.com; was ranked No. 35 nationally by HoopScoop recruiting; and was the No. 15 prep school player in rankings by scout.com. Soda's apparent return to prep school and the departure last spring of 6-9 senior forward B.J. Walker leaves Nebraska with only three players taller than 6-7 - 6-11 junior center Aleks Maric, 6-9 sophomore forward Jim Ledsome and 6-8 redshirt freshman Chris Balham. Nebraska captain Charles Richardson, a senior guard, said Wednesday night he assumes that the Huskers are looking to use the two scholarships still available. "We've had a couple of big men on campus within the last couple of months," Richardson said. "There's been no word on that yet. "With recruiting starting up again this week, I assume they are trying to get somebody right away." If Nebraska has front-court playing time available, Balham wants to challenge for it. He was a dunking machine in his game on Wednesday night, putting to good use the 15 pounds he has gained to 235. "Without a doubt, he is the strongest guy on our team," Richardson said. "That's a lot to say for a redshirt freshman." Also drawing good reviews on Wednesday was incoming freshman guard Jay-R Strowbridge from Ardmore, Ala., who committed after freshman guard Marcus Walker transferred. In analyzing the 6-0, 180-pound Strowbridge, Richardson said: "He is really quick and can jump. And he's got good size for the Big 12. He'll come in and get good quality minutes." Roburt Sallie, a 6-5 incoming freshman guard, already is in Lincoln. Two other incoming freshmen - 6-4 guard Ryan Anderson and 6-6 forward Kris Douse - are scheduled to arrive this week, Richardson said. Maric is still in Australia trying to make his home country's national team. He could be gone as late as the first week of September. "Hopefully if Big Al comes back in good shape," Richardson said, "we'll be ready to roll." Contact the Omaha World-Herald newsroom Copyright ©2006 Omaha World-Herald®. All rights reserved. 3. the actual capacity of the stadium is currently (according to the 2005 media guide) 73,918. When you get players, coaches, media members, boy scouts, vendors etc. into the stadium, that's when you see the attendance at 78,268. If you do that math according to that number, that puts an extra 4,350 people into the stadium. Now add 6,500 onto the 73,918 and you get: 80,418. Now with the extra people that's when you'll see the number go up to 84,000 + but I believe Steve P was talking about the actual capacity of the stadium when empty.... Way too much math at 6:16 in the morning!
  4. Damn, I can barely keep up with this coaching staff......Nice job fellas!!!!!
  5. "Hey KIT -- Hand me some pants and a shirt" Holy Knight Rider did I not need to see that before lunch! you think that is bad? check this out. Let me check...yep.....just threw up a little in mouth right now. Thanks
  6. Invading the lone star state!! This would be a nice pickup What happened to Texas, did they back off that much?
  7. "Hey KIT -- Hand me some pants and a shirt" Holy Knight Rider did I not need to see that before lunch!
  8. Geez, since 2016 is right around the corner I'm really looking forward to this schedule: Tennessee at home at Creighton Canada A & M in Kansas City, MO and Division 1-AA Kansas State
  9. http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB...0&ATCLID=300979 also, in 2009 Nebraska will host Florida Atlantic What next -- Huskers vs. Miami, FL in 2030 and 2031? Anyways, love the aggressive approach Steve and company are doing to get such big time games.....
  10. Many share your feeilings...justified too! So there are armchair quarterbacks and now there are armchair recruiters? I'm pretty sure if the coaching staff liked what they saw and liked it enough, Keller would have a schollie offer. But what do they know? I mean combined they only have nearly 200 years of coaching expierence......so what the hell, offer the kid!!!
  11. I think I saw the total was about $7 and change. If you do get it, good luck, god speed and when it's time, go to the handicap stall and hold on for dear life!
  12. http://www.journalstar.com/articles/2006/0...e1991923062.txt Good luck Adam
  13. Part of a article from the Journal Star about QB recruiting: Away from home but not too far away......is there a school who currently is seeking a QB that is situated in the midwest and not to far away from Gray's hometown??? If you guess Doane, you are correct! Full text of the article: http://www.journalstar.com/articles/2006/0...bb675499613.txt
  14. Looks like we are the sole leader for Mr. Lewis's services.... Travis Lewis
  15. I truely dare anybody who lives in Lincoln to give this thing a try and report back (if your still alive) how it was. When I was leaving I thought to myself "there is no way he can finish this". Then I realized that he was 6'5, 335lbs. He might have a shot.
  16. LSU = thorn in my arse!!!! Lee now Russian -- Dammit Pelini, let it go!!!!
  17. I would love to go to Chipotle on gameday but the amount of people in and around there looks like its insane. Is there a good time to go there on gameday?
  18. 6'6, 220 -- Yeah, umm, I'll take that
  19. Some great teams have offered Gray but the majority of them landed a top notch QB from last year or this year. Florida landed Tebow and alreay have JUCO QB for next year; Georgia landed Stafford last year and Clemson already has Korn (not the band) for next year. Oh and Missouri and Gary Pinkel can't keep anybody in state so I don't see them as a threat. My guess is that Tennessee and South Carolina are two of the teams to be worried about if we really want this guy.
  20. Decommits are normal in the recruitng process, but I don't think I'm ready to believe that a de-committed QB prospect will be the answer to our prayers. What I am ready for is Sept. 2nd!!!!!
  21. No, your right. I should stand back and laugh every time we fail to land a recruit that I think is medicore. OR....I can express my opinion on the subject at hand which is my dissapointment in our recruiting of QB's this year. Hell I'll debate you on current players that I believe are medicore. But to answer your question since my previous statement is obviously gone from topic, I'll dicuss this new one. I care about every recruit that we lose out to because obviously the coaching staff saw something in this guy and since I am the poster boy of arm chair quaterbacks, I'll take there word for it.....
  22. Never, ever in my above post did I mention rated QB's. I mentioned most sought after QB's that obviously our staff was highly interested in are choosing during a period in which consistanly highly recruited QB's or even not so highly recruited QB's are deciding there schools: Mallett, Lee, Bates, Crow, Forcier, Munns, Corp, Russell -- get the picture? I could give two sh*ts about 5 stars and 4 stars or 8 stars. My issue is that it's June and one by one QB's that our staff is aggresively going after are choosing to go else were and at this point right now you cannot say there is one particular QB that you have a hunch will be a Husker or is highly intested in the Big Red. I agree it's not panic time....I do think it is alarming that this team is in a sitation in which they need....NEED to get a good QB that can be comfortable in this offense and NOW we are losing out to a middle of the pack PAC-10 school over a medicore JC QB. Oh and please don't tell me or any other poster in an open forum were we can freely discuss Husker sports to STFU...... That only works with my wife and well she's in the other room so I and many of us will continue to express our opinion and not STFU, however much you disagree with it THANKS
  23. You keep mentioning that it's June Chuckd. Well your right, it is June and most QB's, more than any other position, has a decesion by JUNE. By June most highly sought after QB's have made a decision. Look at the QB prospects that have showed any interest at NU.....they've made a differant choice before or during JUNE. That's the issue.
  24. I'm sorry but I just think this is embarrassing. We have been constantly swinging and missing on almost every single QB prospect out there and NOW we can't even land what looks to be an average at best JC guy. Ahhhh but these coaches can and do surprise me, so I'll keep the faith and wait patiently for a frikin QB!!
  25. When you work close to the campus, you can anticipate running into Husker coaches and players every now and then. Today at Lunch, I went to Chipotle (if you don't know what that is, it's a place that basically makes HUGE burritos and sends you to the bathroom 2 minutes after you finish them). As I was ordering my burrito, I noticed that the guy next to me was, well, substantially large and very recognizable. Another glance and I noticed that it was Matt Slauson. Standing next to a 6'5, 335lb man is startling enough UNTILL I saw what they were making him. These burrito makers were making what I later found out from the cashier was the Slauson special: two tortilla shells slightly overlapping each other, extra rice, extra meat, extra well, about everything. They had to have two people roll it together I tell you what, this thing wasn't just big. This thing was a work of art that should be at the Sheldon Art Museum. This thing would make that Japanese hot dog eating champion shiver. It was frikin AMAZING!!! If your ever at the Lincoln downtown Chipotle and you haven't eatin in like a month (or have a death wish), try the Slauson Special -- Good luck!
