  1. I have never seen the amount of negativity after a loss in the two years I have been reading posts on this board. I realize that some of the things Nebraska messes up on is getting a tad ridiculous, but that doesn't mean that you guys can sit here in take shots at the personell on the team. You're a Husker fan, now act like it. I am 18 years old and right now I am light years ahead of most you adults in the maturity level.
  2. I just started a thread very similar to this. I'm glad someone else thinks the same. I cringed everytime I saw someone wearing a "Tuck Fexas" shirt. Disrespectful is what that is.
  3. The way most of the posters on this board are acting is absolutely pathetic. You're acting like it's the end of the freaking world that Nebraska lost yesterday. Yeah, I realize that many of us (myself included) were heavily emotionally invested in this game but that doesn't justify the things you people are doing. You are taking personal shots at not only the coaches, but the players as well. Yeah, Niles and Ricky had terrible games, yeah the coaches called the worst game in the Pelini-era. SO WHAT. You guys have it easy. How do you think the players feel? Terrible, I bet. The fact is that crazier things have happened in college football (a la LSU in '07) and Nebraska is still in the hunt. Now, please, get over yourselves and move onto Okie State.
  4. According to Jeff Sagarin, one of the guys used in the BCS rankings, Boise's SOS is 28th to our 76th. That will all change, though, as we go through our respective conference schedules. By the end of the season we'll have a far better SOS than Boise. Here's the thing about that: it's all speculation. Yeah, I understand that most likely Nebraska's SOS will be higher than Boise's at the end of the year, but as of now it's not. In fact, their SOS has been higher than Nebraska's from the beginning of the season. Boise has also beat two rank teams to Nebraska's zero wins against ranked teams. The point I'm trying to make is that it's absolutely ridiculous to assert that an undefeated Boise State should be jumped by an undefeated Nebraska at the end of the season based off of SOS. Why do you think it's ridiculous when that's exactly why Boise St. and TCU weren't in the BCS Championship game last year? We just had evidence that this is how it works. Calling it ridiculous may be a personal opinion, but it's not supported by the facts. Further, Nebraska's SOS has skyrocketed in the past three weeks on Sagarin from 132 to 76. It'll jump higher than that after the Texas game, and higher still after Okie State and Missouri. Meanwhile, Boise's will continue to fall because they have only one team with a prayer of being ranked left on their schedule, while we have either Okie State or Missouri, plus Oklahoma (likely). Finally, Boise St. has not beaten two ranked teams, at least not for the purposes of SOS. VA Tech is not ranked, and they're not likely to be ranked for the rest of the season the way they're playing. When we're talking about who does or doesn't get into the MNC game, pre-season rankings don't mean diddly. VA Tech cannot be counted as a win against a "ranked team" in this conversation. Hey, I said I agreed that Nebraska's SOS will soon overtake Boise's. My gripe is with people who constantly complain that Boise and TCU should be left out of the BCS picture because they play in such "weak conferences". If they conferences they play in are so "weak", then why do Boise and TCU consistently finish undefeated or with one loss? The fact is that these two teams cannot control the poor play of the other teams in their conferences and they perform as best they can with what is presented to them. Neither team deserves nearly the amount of respect they deserve. I truly hope that one of them makes it to the MNC this year and plays a BCS team so this debate can finally come to an end. I don't think many of the haters would be happy with the results, though.

I don't see USC going anywhere but down in the next few years with all the sanctions and Kiffin as a coach. The guys is not head coach material. He's one helluva offensive coordinator, but not head coach. Very similar to Bill Callahan. Then ther'e the NCAA sanctions. USC can't even go to a bowl game until 2011 at the earliest. These things (in my mind, at least) do not bode well for recruiting. But, only time will tell what really happens.
  7. http://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/ranking/strength-of-schedule-by-team Then again, according to that link they are only one spot away from each other. Still, the argument that Boise plays a weak schedule should be moot when compared to Nebraska's.
  8. http://www.gberatings.com/sos/ According to that link, Boise's strength of schedule is leagues ahead of Nebraska's. Say what you will, but numbers don't lie.
  9. Jusdging by your name, I'm assuming your on the drumline. What instrument will you be on? Snare, bass, cymbals, quads, marching triangle, or xylophone? I play snare. I'm on the end closest to the quads.
  10. Don't wanna brag but I get to be on the field during the tunnel walk. I stand smack dab in front of the giant screen. I'll be at the south end of the band tunnel on the north end of the four snares that stay on the field after pre-game.
  11. Huskerjock, those are the preseason rankings of the two teams.
  12. Ericinho, that's sweet! So you know Ben Coleman, correct?
  13. I took a nap on the N. It's pretty comfy with all the turf turds. Pretty annoying picking them off of your body the next morning, though. Enhance, who is your roommate?
  14. Nah, I would have been with the drumline in the endzone. I play snare on the side closest to the tenors.
  15. Hey, all. I just recently became a member of the Cornhusker Marching Band I was wondering if there were any alums on this board who would have any helpful advice or anything. Thanks!
  16. I agree with everything you said, zinner111.
  17. I hope Nebraska ends up playing Boise in the MNC. I really don't see why people look down so much on Boise. They beat a very good Oklahoma team in 2006, barely lost to a very good TCU in 2008, and beat an awesome TCU in 2009 (becoming only the 3rd 14-0 team in the history of the BCS if I remember correctly). I mean, really, what is wrong with playing Boise?
  18. I would hardly say that any of those teams other than Nebraska are anywhere near prominence. Yeah, Miami had a good season last year but it didn't last too long. FSU was terrible last year, nuff said. Washington is gonna be good under Sarkisian, but not for another couple years.
  19. Hey, all. I've been reading pretty much every post on this board since the 2008 season and I just now decided to hop on the wagon. I was born in and have lived in Lincoln all of my 18 years and I just graduated from North Star High School this past June. Although I have lived in the heart of Husker Nation my entire life, I didn't become a fan of the Huskers (or football in general, for that matter) until the 2007 season (bad choice for a starter season, I know). I will be starting my freshman year of college at UNL this coming fall semester and I will be majoring in Biochemistry (hoping to become a dentist someday). Also, I will be trying out for the Nebraska Drumline (hence my display name) in about a month. Anywho, my favorite Husker of all time is Scott Frost because he's the first one I can remember ever hearing about from my family. My favorite current Husker is a tie between Rex Burkhead and Prince Amukamara. They're both absolute beasts, it's hard to choose. My favorite Husker memory is when DeJon Gomes intercepted that pass in the Big 12 CCG that lead to Nebraska winning the game (oh, wait...). My least favorite memory is hearing the final score from the Iowa St. game from last year on the way back to a band competition; needless to say, that was a pretty quiet bus ride. So, yeah, that'a about it. I look forward to some awesome topics in the coming season. GBR!
