  1. They do add flavor, it was the first time I ever used French Onion Soup and I am so glad I did. It turned out great and very tender.
  2. Crockpot Roast Beef: I made this for dinner last night with mashed potatoes, gravy and corn. It Is the best roast I have ever made. I will only use a chuck roast because it always turns out so tender. I have the roast in the crockpot by 8:30 a.m. and I let it cook on low until we are ready to eat for dinner which is way later than 6 p.m. but you could eat it at 6 p.m. or whenever you are ready. I floured a chuck roast and lightly browned it in a little olive oil on both sides. I put the chuck roast in the crockpot and added some sliced white onions and garlic around the roast and some on top of the chuck roast. I covered the top of the chuck roast with Lipton Beefy Onion Soup Mix. I poured 2 cans of beef broth in and 1 can of French Onion Soup; put the lid on and let it cook until we were ready to eat later that night. To make the gravy, I melt 1/2 cup of butter in a skillet until it is melted and then I add 1/2 cup flour and whisk some more. I add 2 cups beef broth to it and some milk, kitchen bouquet, salt and pepper. I like to add baby carrots and fresh sliced mushrooms to it, but, I didn't have any.

  4. I made this for the first time for dinner last night and it was really tender and one of the best pork roasts I have ever made. I am going to be making this often. Served it with a bacon potato dish I make often and green beans with bacon. In a large bowl, combine soups, milk and 1 pkg. Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Mix Coat the pork roast in the remaining Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Mix on all sides and put in Crockpot. Pour the soup mixture over the pork roast and cover. Cook on low in a slow cooker for 6-7 hours. ****I cooked it longer because we eat late.

  6. Dipping Sauce: I made this for the first time today for steak and onion rings and it is very good. You can use it on Onion Rings, French Fries, Tater Tots, etc. I will be making this often to dip all sorts of veggies in. Dipping Sauce: 1/3 Cup Mayonnaise 2 T. Sour Cream 3 T. Creamy Horseradish Sauce 1 T. Ketchup 1/4 Tsp. Paprika 1/4 Tsp. Garlic Salt Mix all ingredients in a bowl until well combined. Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour to let the flavors blend together. Serve with Onion Rings, French Fries, Tater Tots or whatever you want.
  7. Crockpot Cheese Scalloped Potatoes: I made this for the first time yesterday for dinner and it was good. The only thing I would do different next time, is use a little more flour to make the roux so the sauce is thicker. If you have a big family to feed you may want to double the ingredients. 6 Large Potatoes, Peeled & Thinly Sliced ***I Think It Would Be Ok, To Just Leave The Peels On, If You Prefer 1 Medium Onion, Peeled & Chopped 4 T. Butter 1/4 Cup Plus 1 T. All-Purpose Flour 1 Tsp. Salt-(I Didn't Use That Much) 1/8 Tsp. Pepper-(I Added More) 2 Cups Milk 2 T. Heavy Whipping Cream-(Opt.)-I Didn't Have Any But I Think It Would Be Good With It 1-1/3 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese Spray crockpot with cooking spray. Layer crockpot with potatoes then onions. Keep doing this until no more remain. In a large pot, add butter, flour, salt and pepper. Over medium low heat, stir until butter is melted. Gradually whisk in milk and cream until no lumps remain. While stirring, cook until bubbly and thickened. Stir in cheese to melt, about 10 minutes. Pour cheese sauce over, stir. Cover and cook on high for 4 hours or on low for 5 to 7 hours. ***I turned it on high for awhile to make sure they got tender, when they seemed a little tough yet during the cooking time.
  8. I wouldn't want to use the crockpot for every meal but it sure comes in handy when I am going to be really busy that day and I don't feel like cooking over the stove. Also by using it, I can eat and go to bed when I want to and he can eat and come to bed when he wants to and I don't have to stay up.
  9. Sometimes it is just easier for me to do it this way when I have a lot going on. Sometimes I have other food I am baking in the oven at a different temperature, etc. and I have microwaved them, but sometimes I just like a change of making the same ole same ole. This was the first time I have made them this way and I liked them. Have grilled them outside but I do whatever is convenient for me at the time.
  10. Crockpot Loaded Potatoes: I made these last night with grilled pork steak and they turned out great. I served them with butter and sour cream and fried up some bacon and chopped it into small pieces and put the bacon and some shredded cheddar cheese and chopped green onions on top. ***Use How Many Potatoes You Need Prick the Russet potatoes with a fork several times, then rub potatoes with Olive Oil, sprinkle with Kosher Salt, and wrap tightly in foil. Place the potatoes into a slow cooker, cover, and cook on High for 4-1/2 to 5 hours, or on Low for 7-1/2 to 8 hours until tender.
  11. I make this a lot, it is one of our favorite potato recipes. Salsa

After trying many salsa recipes, I finally found a recipe for it that is easy to make and good-(in my opinion anyway). Going to keep making this salsa for sure. I took a picture of it on my cell phone and emailed it to me and put it in pictures, but, I can't get the picture to show. I don't know how to fix it to show on Huskerboard. I am sorry it won't show, I deleted all my attachments so I know there is room, but, it still won't work. I like to post pictures of recipes I make. Salsa: 2-(14.5-oz.)-Cans Hunts Diced Tomatoes 1-(10-oz.)-Can Rotel Mild Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies 1/4 Cup Fresh Lime Juice 1 Tsp. Ground Cumin 1 Tsp. Salt 1 Tsp. Sugar 1/2 Tsp. Ground Black Pepper 1-(7.5-oz.)-Can El Mexicano Chiles Chipotles ***Whole Chipotle Peppers In Adobo Sauce ***We Like Hot & Spicy Salsa So Use Less Chipotle Peppers If You Aren't A Fan Of Heat 1 Bunch Fresh Cilantro, Stems Roughly Removed ***I Just Removed The Leaves By Hand To Get Them Off The Stem 1 Medium Onion, Diced Add the diced tomatoes, diced tomatoes with green chiles, lime juice, cumin, salt, sugar, ground black pepper, chipotle peppers, cilantro and onions to a food processor; blend until totally combined. Give it a taste to check for seasonings. Refrigerate salsa in a covered bowl for several hours before serving, as it will give the flavors a chance to blend. Serve with Tortilla Chips/Mexican Food Of Choice
  14. I will have to get some of those bags. Thx for posting it.

  16. We watched 90 Minutes In Heaven the other night and it was really good, it is a true story. It really hit home with me. He mentioned a lot of stuff that I can relate to except I remember a little more than what was mentioned in the movie. Thought I would post this in case anyone is planning on playing it safe tonight and maybe wanting to watch a movie. It isn't worth being in an accident and having to put your life back together like I had to do. There will be plenty of drunk drivers on the road and I don't want anything to happen to you. Below is the description of the movie. I hope you all have a Happy & Safe New Year. On the way home from a conference, Don Piper’s car was crushed by a semitruck that crossed into his lane. Medical personnel said he died instantly. While his body lay lifeless inside the ruins of his car, Piper experienced the glories of heaven, awed by its beauty and music. 90 minutes after the wreck, while a minister prayed for him, Piper miraculously returned to life on earth with only the memory of inexpressible heavenly bliss. Then his grueling recovery began.
  17. Pecans: 2 T. Honey 1-1/2 Tsp. Chipotle Powder 1 Tsp. Ground Cinnamon 2 Cups Pecan Halves-(The Bigger The Better) 2 T. Granulated Sugar 1 Tsp. Sea Salt Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. In a medium microwave safe mixing bowl, combine the honey, chipotle powder, and ground cinnamon. Warm through. (You can also do this on the stove over low heat.) Stir nuts into warmed honey mixture. Still well to coat. On a parchment paper-lined baking sheet, spread honey-coated nuts in a single layer. Bake until toasted and fragrant, about 15 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool only slightly (no more than a minute or two-- you want them to still be sticky.) Combine the sugar and salt in a small bowl. In a medium sized mixing bowl dump the hot nuts and add the sugar/salt mix tossing to combine. Spread nuts on cold waxed or parchment paper and let dry. It's best if they don't touch each other. Serve or store covered until ready to eat.
  18. Slow Cooker Queso Blanko Dip: 1-(8-oz.)-Pkg. Cream Cheese, Cut Into Cubes 8-oz. Pepper Jack Cheese, Grated 4-oz. Diced Green Chiles ***Don't Drain 2 T. 19. My Mom's Cherry Slices: This is one of favorite desserts to make. 1 Cup Blue Bonnet Margarine ***I Soften It A Little In The Microwave 1-3/4 Cups Sugar 4 Eggs 1 Tsp. Vanilla Put all of the ingredients in a large mixing nowl; mix. Add Gradually: 2-1/2 Cups Flour Pinch Of Salt 1-1/2 Tsp. Baking Powder ***IMPORTANT: SAVE 1-1/2 CUPS BATTER TO PUT ON TOP OF CHERRY SLICES. Beat well and put batter on a large cookie sheet that has been sprayed with Pam. Spread 1 can of cherry pie filling over the dough. Using a spoon, drop the reserved batter on top and spread using a knife. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. When it is done baking, make a powdered sugar frosting to frost the cherry slices. I don't measure the powdered sugar frosting, so just eyeball it to your liking. I use powdered sugar, butter, milk and some vanilla in a bowl; mix. ****Let the cherry slices cool and frost the top with powdered sugar frosting.
