  1. The way these injuries are adding up especially at LB'er.....these will be game changing and season changing injuries. We literally lost our two best LB'ers! Look for teams to really try to beat up the middle of the field with the passing game. Inexperience at LB'er will usually be exposed with passes over the middle behind the linebackers and in front of the safeties. I guess we're really gonna find out about our depth huh?
  2. Absolutely insane schedules. We will have the toughest schedule in football the next two years by far. I am glad we are playing Penn St. in the annual crossover game though. That will be a hell of a game every year. Iowa to take the day after Thanksgiving slot.....that's another great one. Get ready for some smashmouth football. First though, let's win the Big 12 and go out in style.
  3. For each day that Bo doesn't announce who the starter, a new thread is born. And unfortunately, WHEN that starter is announced, there will be at least one thread per day stating why this QB or that QB should have been named the starter instead. Bank on it I would like to know which QB the OP is friends with or family of... This is a place to discuss all things Huskers is it not? I mean, you seem like you've been here quite a long time and made quite a few comments........maybe ease up and let Husker fans discuss what they choose to discuss. There are many other threads here if you don't like this one.
  4. Exactly........simply put and I couldn't agree more. (apologies if the link to the article is a violation.....kind of new to this.)

  6. I don't think it's a sign of weakness, or really even indecision. I think Bo knows who the guy is, but he's been saying over and over again, "We compete every day, the depth chart is fluid, no spot is safe." If he comes out a week or even a couple days before the game and says, "___________ is the starting QB," then he is directly contradicting the philosophy that he champions. A week or a couple days before what game? I don't expect him to announce a starter before the Western Kentucky game. The whole point of my rant was that we can wait and name that starter when he comes out for that game. But once we do it, then we should stick with him. If this guy has worked his butt off, earned it in practice, and shown the coaches all spring summer and fall that he is the guy.....then I think we name him the starter and we stick with him for a while. The guy couldn't be named the starter for the Western Kentucky game, Idaho game, and the lose it for the Washington game already could he?
  7. Tom Shatel writes that a QB rotation throughout the Western Kentucky game is likely. Not only that, but that we shouldn't expect to have a clear cut starter until the Washington game? I don't know about the rest of you, but I think it's time for our coaching staff to evaluate this position and stick with the guy that gives us a the best chance to win. Why should that be changing each week? Somebody has to be better than all the others. There is purely no way that these 3 our equally capable of accomplishing our offensive goals. Now if it's Zac Lee, then put him out there for his senior year and let him take the reins. If they are actually willing to make the change to Cody Green or Martinez then it has to be because these guys have earned the chance. It isn't helping Zac Lee's mentality if these coaches continually pull him and see if another guy can do it better. I mean, how would you feel if you went to work every day and your boss keeps testing another guy in your place to see if he can do your job better than you? So if he doesn't do better, then the boss says 'nope, he's not the guy, I'll let you keep your job til' I find the next guy to replace you with'. You could say the same for Martinez. If Martinez gets the "starting job" and he makes a mistake or two and we yank him out of there......what does that do for his confidence. How would he feel about the coaches confidence in him. Many different sports radio stations are viewing this QB debate as a sign of weakness. Most are saying that it's ridiculous to think that we haven't had a decision because they are all just so darn good. Most think we are heading into this season with high expectations but can't even find someone to play QB? I think we do have someone that can take this offense and not only make Nebraska competitive, but can probably take us to the top. But I am afraid if we do too much "ring around the rosy"........how will this QB and his teammates settle in and adapt to each others style. I'm hoping the decision is already made and we have "THE GUY" to get it done.
  8. Good one with Ankrah. I was really big on this kid when we got him........he's got that redshirt year out of the way, I hope we see him. Let's see Meredith light it up too. This defensive line should be an unblockable monster.
  9. Most simply put, this offense better do something, and the defense will be business as usual. I can't take another year of watching the 102nd ranked offense in the country.
  10. Is Moore or Steinkuhler gonna light it up beside Crick? Starting LB'ers fast and flowing to the football like animals? Amakamura and Dennard the best cb's in the country? Who are the starting safeties and how do they look? Kinnie and Niles? Helu is finally healthy, will he take it to the next level? Burkhead a beast as always. OFFENSIVE LINE OFFENSIVE LINE OFFENSIVE LINE
  11. Hey, I'm all for it too. I mean, naming the starters now isn't changing anything. They are there in practice everyday. They know who does what and who's leading the competition at each position. Clearly as you can see by the results of the last two years, these guys know exactly what they're doing. I trust their judgment and believe we are going to field an elite team this year. Sounds like there is some fierce competition going on though, and that is great to hear heading into the season. A comment Jamrog made on Big Red Wrap Up last night was also nice to hear when he said that we nailed it with every recruit in this last class. That is just incredible and really adds to the excitement for the future of this team.
  12. Seriously...we're 3 days away from the first game of the season and I'm yet to hear the words "depth chart". Since Bo is playing the 'I know who the QB is' card, the media has been completely distracted from every other position in question. Safety, linebacker, d-tackle, o-tackle....we have no idea how the 2-deep is shaking out. I can't tell if he's enjoying the media control, or if he's just cleverly dangling a carrot. --That was the interesting thing about the Bo Pelini Show the other night. Yes, this QB battle is interesting, but when Pelini was discussing every other position he had ten other spots on the team that weren't officially claimed yet. I mean, how do you take this? Is nobody grabbing this thing by the reins and snatching that starting job? Or is our depth so damn impressive that these starting players could be rotated and remain just as efficient? I have to think its the latter, but it is interesting.
  13. Whoa! He banned the media because family members were hearing about an injury from media outlets before coaches were even able to inform Fisher's family of the injury. Not only that, but they were receiving phone calls while he was on the operating table? Wow.....if that's not the most legitimate reason in history to ban the media, then I don't know what is. Secondly, this is football, not patty cake. If you've never seen a coach go nuts, then you've obviously never been part of a football practice. These are young men. They appreciate the passion and the excitement of the Head Coach. It lets them know that he has bought into them as much as they have bought into him. They wouldn't be here if they didn't love it. Which leads to my final point. If you don't like it, you shouldn't be watching the games. I can give you the stats afterward if you can't handle the emotions of the actual game. I second the nomination for lamest post of the year. So far anyways.......Am I right? LOL.
  14. That is the greatest 10 seconds of football I have ever seen. Thanks for that.
