I think I know what you are getting at, but since when is a 5.7 3-star taking a chance? Nate Gerry, Maliek Collins, DJ Foster, Carlos Davis, JD Spielman, Matt Farniok, Brenden Jaimes, Deontai Williams and Maurice Washington were all 5.7 3-stars. I'd take a few more of those guys in a heart beat.

I get what your saying, but I'd be willing to bet that he ends up as a 4-star. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up as a high 4-star. He has everything that a 4-star OLB has - plays against high competition, has great production and he had a great frame. His only knock is his weight. But his weight actually is that bad - 5-star OLB Terrance Lewis is listed at 205, whereas Patrick Payton is listed at 210. Great addition and he will end up being one of the gems of this class.

A combination of the Kobe's and Banton will primarily be handling PG. McGowen could factor in too - I know he believes he will get a waiver to play right away.

What in the world is "meh" about this kid and commitment? He has great size and P5 offers from the Big10, Big XII, PAC and the ACC. And this is all in a very strange time without coaches really being able to get out and evaluate this spring. Watch his highlights. He has pretty good bend and moves his feet pretty well too. On pass protection, he does a good job of getting deep in his drop step and had a good punch. Is he perfect? No. But he has a really, really good foundation to work off of. OL recruiting under Austin is as good as I have seen it in 15+ years.

I do truly think that Cross is a quality player and I wish him the best too. However, I do firmly believe that this was Fred's choice to move Cross along to make room for bigger and better things.

No surprise here. I called this week's ago. This is just Fred being Fred. He believes we can get a higher caliber of player, so he is making room for them. To me, this sounds like good news for both Sanago and Trevor Lakes.

Lat is going to be a quality bench player for us next year. He brings great size. I expect him to be able to add 7-8 points a night. Great role player.

Lol What? We have differing opinions. Nothing wrong with that and is the beauty of this board - good discussion. What did I say that was so awe-inspiring? That I think Cross lacks elite athleticism? I really don't think that is that outlandish. Is he a skilled big? Yes. But I don't think he is the kind of athlete that a skilled forward needs to be what Fred likes. Oh, I also forgot about Lat Mayen. I think Cross will be behind him too.

Ferentz doesn't like to play games with recruits - sometimes to a fault. Eno Benjamin was once an Iowa commit, until he wanted to take a few more visits and Iowa dropped him. I wonder if Mbow's delay in committing and new relationship with Iowa have anything to do with that.

1. Never predicted anything with Banton. I said I wouldn't be surprised if he had a great year and jumped to the league. I still stand by that. 2. Cross is a good player, but I just don't see him making the necessary jump to be the kind of player that Fred likes. I don't think he has the athleticism. That's why I believe he will be behind Banton, Stevenson, Walker, Ouedraugo and Sanogo, if we land him of course. 3. I won't be surprised if Arop moves on after this year, but I think Fred would have liked him gone this year. Arop just didn't take the bait. 4. I agree that sit-transfers will be a key to roster management. We agree here. I just think that we will also see attrition every year too. Its just a part of the game now.

I think attrition will be a part of his roster management, just like it was this year. Burke, Green and Mack all leaving were ultimately Fred's decisions. I think we wanted Arop to probably move on too, but Arop doesn't want to move on. I'm calling my shot now - Cross will not finish his career as a Husker.

We will be dealing with attrition every year. Obviously not as bad as this year, but attrition will be a part of life. If we land Sanago, we will have Ouedraugo, Cross and Sanago. Someone will be low man on the totem pole, and I expect that one to move on. We also will have to start getting used to the idea of guys leaving early for the draft. I wouldn't be surprised if Banton was one of those guys. I promise you that we will have more than 1 open scholarship for next year.

Not as uphill as you might think. In fact, I believe that we are currently in lead for his services. The fact that he is bringing his brother to the SG says a lot, IMO. Obviously a lot of time between now and his commitment date and a lot can change - but KDub will have is in it until his final decision. I want this one bad... Not in the lead and definitely uphill. In fact we are not in the top 5 out of his 10 right now and his best relationship is quoted as Butch Jones. It doesn't say a lot that he's bringing his brother. They are family, why would you not all take the trip together? It's more of just logistically reasonable than telling of our place in his mind. It's always an "uphill" battle with these elite recruits, but I'm telling you that we are in good shape here. And his brother coming with him is way more than just "logistically reasonable." I have heard things and then made assumptions based off what I have heard.
