  1. Thought the B1G baseball broadcast was good. Would definitely like to see more games.
  2. Blackshirt's .....Make sure you wish for a tourney game next year! (Of course you may have waay to many candles to make it come true. I think the press conference touched on a few of these items. They are going to do due diligence on the assistants and take whatever time they need. Sounds like they won't rush the process to account for the recruiting period. So I missed that one. Here is an article on the staff approach. http://huskerextra.c...e9100664a4.html I know he said he will focus on H.S. players. I wonder if that means he will not go for Biggs? You'd be putting a lot of pressure on Parker, Gallegos and Hilliard who was hurt a lot this year. I don't know if any of them are ready?? I guess it depends on the scholarship situation too. I also wonder if he will redshirt some of the freshmen who played this year. I expect there will be some shakeup.
  3. What a ridiculous statement... +1. This is an aaammmazzzing post. I think Creighton fans have been slighted, the NU athletic department has been slighted and the media has been slighted. I do agree with you that coaches who didn't clamor for this job are irrational! I do deserve better!! I wan't cake and ice cream every day. wooohoo!!! Just funnin' with ya Husker399. but I don't think you speak for Husker fans. Just sayin''
  4. Agree. He really grew on me fast during the presser. I see why people recommend him. Strikes me as a guy who people will gravitate towards as he is very positive, energetic and engaging. Good hire by T.O.
  5. Good pt. Hope he runs multiple defenses. (mix of man & zone). Don't have an opinoin on the offense, but would be interested to know if he is going to recruit targeted players to a style of basketball, or if he is going to go for whoever he can recruit and adjust his style based on his best players.
  6. Sounds like he has a sense of humor and is a goofball. From one goof to another. Awesome. The guy has been a coach of the year at every level he has been at. All at programs he had to build. Looking forward to seeing that trend continue at the B1G level. 7. Had to take a phone call...so I wan't quite finished. E) Call other current LOI guys and tell them where they fit. If someone doesn't fit then grant them a release. IMO they will keep them all, outside of Fahro. F) If you can't fill a ship with a quality player, then hold onto it for next year or try and get a transfer. It looks like he has done well with transfers. Comish I definitely agree with paying some $ to keep/get top assistants.
  8. I think the next 3 weeks are VERY important. Not everything can be solved at once, but there is an opportunity here to get better. 1) Coach Miles needs to get his staff solidified ASAP, so that they can evaluate and recruit with guns loaded. 2) I believe he can practice the team while the tourney is going on. That is an opportunity to evaluate the current players to see how they fit in his system. If some players don't fit, he will need to let them know where they stand and how much playing time they will get over their career. The sooner this happens the better for both players and coaches. 3) He needs to get some key signees. A) I would rescind Fahro's LOI since he got kicked off his JUCO squad. This gets us back to 13. B) I would put Christopher on Medical Hardship. Too many injuries and continued issues. I would go after Biggs so that they have an experienced PG that can guard in the B1G. C) I would get an answer from Diaz on whether he will be back or not. Right now. If he is fully committed to coming back I would take a chance on the feet. d) Evaluate current team. There could be a player or two that do not fit. That would allow an additional ship or 2
  9. Good article by huskers.com. The key will be recruiting & identifying talent. http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=205403211
  10. I'm with you, PC. I was never skeptical of him though. I didn't really have an opinion of him to be honest. But like you, I did some further research and understand why he was hired. The potential is there, I just hope the fanbase gives him time to get his ducks in a row to have some success. I said the same thing with the Erstad hire last year. This will take some time, so expect some growing pains along the way. +1. I was looking for a splash hire, but I trust T.O's judgement. I think he identifed a guy that is a builder. A guy with a plan that will be successful over time. I think the best thing about the hire is that he sounds like a great fit. I hope he can energize the fan base and recruit. I look for him to be a Husker for a long time. Welcome to the Husker family Coach Miles! The bio's of the assistant's sound really good. I hope they join Coach Miles.
  11. Article by Rosenthal. Pretty much all the same names being discussed in this thread. Now that's a good article, much better than the one in the owh.
  12. Did we face a lefty today? We seem to be having issues with lefties.
  13. Not a Sutton fan. Boyle would be okay and towards the top of my blist. My A-list Dixon Marshall Groce Smart As far as timeline I think it will be wrapped up the first week of April.
  14. Not a huge fan of today's batting lineup. I think Coach Erstad probably based it off of the first 3 games and trying to develop some of the players. Huskers are battling though.
  15. IMHO I would blame a little of it on weight training. I am guessing I will get a lot of disagreement on that line of thinking. I would also point to he's probably working more on the inside game.
  16. Lee has a few interesting things in it. I don't agree with the tone of the article at all. While I participate in the rumor mill by posting names I see elsewhere, I certainly understand why T.O wants to keep the speculation down and I fully support his approach if that's how he wants to do it, because I think it can hurt/influence negotiations. Hearing all the turndowns during the Collier hire and how it was a struggle put the program in a bad light during the hiring process. There's is absolutely no need to rush to get a coach! If this was August then there would be but this is March and with the tourney going on, T.O is being respectful of the other schools and working through back channels as he should. It's harder to get things done fast when going through an intermediary. And like he has said before they want to get it right. We don't need to know at this point. Let him do his job. He has given us the parameters in the process. The parameters are: They have no time frame, they are taking their tiime, they are keeping it quiet. After they go through the process he will tell us all about it. What more could you ask. I respect this approach. http://www.bigredtoday.com/article/20120317/BIGRED/703179834/-1#barfknecht-separating-fact-fiction-in-nu-coach-search
  17. Some details on Miller http://www.perfectgame.org/players/playerprofile.aspx?ID=282975
  18. Since I have seen Dixon's name a few times on other boards.. I thought I would post his bio. Pitt had an off year so maybe.... http://www.pittsburghpanthers.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/dixon_jamie00.html
  19. Hot bats is right! Got to keep it going. Good job by the Huskers. Also kudos to the coaching staff for getting another recruit.
  20. I agree. You can get a quick turnaround with basketball because you only have to a couple of stars, a couple of good players and a role player or two. You just have to get a guy who can recruit and get them here. Who knows maybe a Pitino is tired of where he is at? Or Coach K wants to try and do a startup just for kicks and for a challenge. You never know.
  21. I think pitching is the key to this team. That's the place that needs to improve the most IMO.
  22. I am seeing a lot of posts that say this guy is out of reach or wouldn't be interested but I am of the opinion that you identify the best guys then you go after them. You show them the facilities and then you say: "The playing field has been leveled. All the tools are there. "This fan base is HUNGRY for a basketball winner. They are a passionate fan base, just look at the other sports." This University has never won a NCAA tournament game. You do that for them and you become a LEGEND" There's only one other school that can write the same story, so you can establish a legacy that others can't. If you can recruit you can build the tradition. Be the man, build the tradition." And if that doesn't work add... "Or are you chicken?" Seriously, appeal to the guy's ego. A challenge may be just what some of these guys are looking for. As long as they have the tools to work with, support from a good administration and a fan base that will support them I think they will consider it.
  23. What has surprised me the most about this team are the HR's. That is probably a tribute to the off season work they did. Now is it mostly due to lifting or is some of it swing work? I imagine the modified bat rules helps as well. Happy with the batting of some of the new players. Team needs to keep improving & stay focused. Also great question Comish. At this point I am of the mind that they should just keep doing what they are doing.
  24. Where did the bats go? That's baseball....
