Wed practice report

Recommended Posts

Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska football team worked out for nearly two hours in full pads Wednesday afternoon at the Cook Pavilion in the Huskers’ second practice since fall classes began. The Huskers moved inside after strong showers swept through the area in the morning.

Coach Bill Callahan was pleased with the brisk pace of the practice and the preparation the Huskers have gone through to get ready for the Sept. 4 opener against Western Illinois.

"I feel good about where team is at as we enter the game week coming up," Callahan said. "But we have a little more situational work to do."

Callahan noted that the staff is closing in on an updated depth chart, but that there are still key battles left to take place, especially at wide receiver, place-kicker and on the offensive line.

"If we can straighten those three positions out, I’d feel real good about where we are at," Callahan said. "Of course, we feel real solid in the back end in terms of the secondary and our linebackers are pretty solid. The front four is pretty much named and there’s a good rotation there. On the offensive side of the ball, we have to take a good strong look at where we are at from the receiver and offensive line perspective."
