Getting off the ground: Change in air at Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. — Start with Nebraska's new high-carb playbook, a good 2-2 1/2 inches thick and weighing in at a hefty 8 pounds.

 

Check that. It's 10 pounds now, more than three times the size of the Cornhuskers' playbook of old. Coach Bill Callahan and his staff have fattened it up since hitting town and handing out the original blueprint for their version of the West Coast offense in January.

 

"It was quite a bit different, a lot of stuff I've never seen," says Matt Herian, the 'Huskers' all-Big 12 Conference tight end. "When you first look at it, you kind of take a step back and go, 'How are we going to learn this?' "
