slacker
Irregular News for 12.12.06 Columbia, SC -- A man drove an SUV this morning into a Columbia family’s bedroom at 1 a.m., knocking the couple out of bed, and coming within inches of hitting the couple's child, who was asleep in a crib, a family member said. The car finally came to rest in the couple’s living room on a Christmas tree and presents, said Donna Norman, the child’s grandmother, who lives about a mile away from the wreck at 2949 Carters Creek Station Road, Norman said. The couple, Niki Waller, 25, and Norman's son-in-law, Jeremy Waller, 28, have spent part of the morning cleaning up and boarding up a hole left in the side of the home, Norman said. “To think — a few more inches and I wouldn’t have a family right now,” Norman said. “A couple of inches, and I would have lost my grandbaby, my daughter and my son-in-law over something that is all uncalled for.” The family suffered no injuries, Norman said. The driver, whose name was not immediately available, was arrested shortly after the wreck by law enforcement officers in Maury County, Norman said. The Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated the incident, officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said. source Quote Link to comment
