Eric the Red
Player: Callahan Bright Hometown: Bryn Mawr Position: DT Height: 6’2” Weight: 315 40 time: 5.0 Visit Date: none Scholarships offered: LSU, Miami (Fl), Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, USC, Florida State, Ohio State Favorites: No favorite, all equal Rankings/Stars: Rivals: #3/***** Insiders: #1/***** Assessing the talent: The kid squats 700 pounds. He can easily split double teams or speed rush. Rivals/Huskers Illustrated reported though he was thrown out of a game recently and had to sit out, but apparently is not a loose cannon. Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 10% Entirely too early too tell. The Huskers, of course hope to get a visit from him. They got their main recruiter, the great John Blake, on him. He is being sought after by all the majors. This race is expected to go down to the wire. But at least the Huskers are among the ones he is looking at. Quote Link to comment
Benard
I heard he wasn't so "BRIGHT" in the classroom. Quote Link to comment
gamecocks
It is good to hear that he plays with some emotion on the field. I think that we need a few more of those kinds of players. Quote Link to comment
hskrwiz
If we got this guy he would be the star of our recruiting class. Quote Link to comment
gamecocks
Our lack of depth may be a good reason for him to consider us at the end. Quote Link to comment
Benard
is he going to make the grades? I heard he wasn't to bright. Quote Link to comment
Redout
If we got this guy he would be the star of our recruiting class. Why do you say that?? I not sure he would even be considered the best defensive player we would get. Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
Rumored, by Rivals, to be NU's number 1 priority, ahead of Lucky Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
The power and quickness stand out. He lines up both inside and outside. Many of the times when he was at the nose, it was a straight bull rush and won 99% of the time. I mean he'll push a guy back 4 or 5 yards into the backfield. Once in a while they he stood up straight instead of firing out and staying low. On many occasions he ran 10 yards downfiled to get the ball carrier. Quote Link to comment
Benard
The Nebraska coaching staff contacted Callahan bright and they came to a mutual agreement that they no longer wanted to recruit him.His team is 0-7 and he has been suspended for the last 7 weeks because he got into a fight with a spectator in the stands who was taunting him. Also his grades have slipped and he is currently ineligible to play, another reason why he got suspended. Benard
Callahan Bright has now eliminated Nebraska from his schools He said that just because we decided to quit going after him. We backed off not him backing off of us. Quote Link to comment

I would assume that grades may have been a bit of a factor, but given the talent level NU would be willing to sign him, place him in a JUCO, and wait a year or two. Given that, does it seem that Callahan and company decided that they didn't want to deal with a head case? Did they see another Incognito coming down the pike? Sure seems like it. Be interesting to know if this kid's had other conduct problems. Anyone know? Quote Link to comment
