Folcroft, PA -- A tenant in court defending herself from a civil complaint by her landlord suddenly had to shift gears. La Tina Osborne, a pediatric nurse, was speaking when she noticed that the plaintiff, Genevieve Zumuda, 77, appeared stricken.

"As I presented my case, she just started shaking and her eyes rolled back in her head," said Osborne, 32. "When I noticed that nothing was changing, I went over there just to assess her and see what was wrong and I noticed that she wasn't breathing."

Osborne placed Zumuda on the floor and began mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. A court clerk assisted. Someone went for help, and paramedics arrived and used a defibrillator to regain a heartbeat. Zumuda was taken to Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, where she was in stable condition Wednesday.

Osborne said it was the first time she had used CPR outside of work in the seven years she has had the training. She said she did not feel like a hero, and wanted the incident to be a lesson to her children. "When people are down, if you can help them, you help them," she said.

Osborne has been Zumuda's tenant for nearly a year.
