THE WEEKEND'S BEST

Weekend of October 9, 2004

TOP QB

Kellen Clemens, Oregon

Clemens took his Ducks on the road and pulled out a big win over Washington State. The junior QB completed 36 of 55 passes for 437 yards and 3 TDs without an INT.

Runner-Up: Sonny Cumbie, Texas Tech

TOP RB

Adrian Peterson, Oklahoma

Though he didn't score a TD, Peterson showed Saturday why he's the nation's best freshman. The Texas native ran the ball 32 times for 225 yards, a 7-yard per carry average.

Runner-Up: Anthony Davis, Wisconsin

TOP WR

Kerry Wright, Middle Tennessee

Wright hauled in three TD catches on Saturday as the Blue Raiders knocked off then Sun Belt-leading Arkansas State. On the day, the senior hauled in 9 receptions for 178 yards (19.8 AVG).

Runner-Up: Britton Komine, Hawaii

TOP TEAM

Wisconsin

The Badgers have been overlooked time and time again this season and in years past. Barry Alvarez's team, led by star RB Anthony Davis, went in to Columbus and spanked Ohio State this past weekend.

Runner-Up: Oklahoma State & Texas Tech

TOP GAME

California at Southern Cal

This game was hyped as one of the PAC 10's biggest in many years, and the matchup was a doozy. USC pulled ahead and led most of the way, and a late Cal rally wasn't quite enough to end the Trojans' streak.

Runner-Up: LSU at Florida

TOP UPSET

Tennessee over (3) Georgia

After the Vols were hammered in Knoxville by Auburn and UGA took it to LSU last week, who would've thought this would happen? The SEC East race is wide open again, and perhaps we now know Auburn is king of the SEC.

Runner-Up: North Carolina over NC State
