4th seed in the Big 12

Recommended Posts

Since we are 14-13 in Big 12 play and Texas A&M is 13-13, that makes us the 4th seed in the tournament. However, we will play Texas A&M in the 1st round.

Here is how the tournament will play out:

The field for this year's edition of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship will be announced on Sunday evening after the last regular season game is completed. Each of the eight teams competing is guaranteed a minimum of three games. Seeds 2, 3, 6 and 7 will compete in pool play on one side of the bracket, while seeds 1, 4, 5 and 8 will play in the other. The two teams with the best record within their bracket will advance to the Championship game, with the winner earning the Big 12's automatic berth into the NCAA Championship.

I see the following for 1st round:

Texas vs. Kansas State

Nebraska vs. Texas A&M

Missouri vs. Oklahoma

Oklahoma State vs. Baylor

I can't wait to see Dorn against K-State and Wertz against Texas!!! :box

Versus Texas

Game Two Starter - Johnny Dorn (8-4 loss)

After opening a three-game series with a 7-0 win over No. 4 Texas on Friday, the Nebraska baseball team owned a 4-2 lead after three before the Longhorns rallied for five runs in the fourth and fifth innings on their way to an 8-4 win over the Huskers at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park on Saturday. :nutz

Game Three Starter - Matt Foust (6-2 loss)

One bright spot for the Huskers was the performance of junior reliever Luke Wertz, as the junior right-hander kept the Huskers in the game with 7.1 innings of scoreless relief. Wertz, who has not allowed a run in his last 14.2 innings of work, matched his career high with seven strikeouts. :clap

Versus Kansas State

Game Two Starter - Johnny Dorn (6-3 win)

K-State (26-17, 6-11 Big 12) fought back against Dorn, who had allowed only two hits through the first five innings. With one on and two outs, Drew Biery coaxed a walk before Wiley’s single to right put the Wildcats on the scoreboard. Tenbrink made it a 3-2 game with an RBI single to left before Belftonte’s play at the plate ended the KSU uprising.

Game Three Starter - Luke Wertz (8-2 loss)

Luke Wertz took a hard-luck no-decision despite his third consecutive dominant performance on the hill. The junior right-hander from Parker, Colo., tossed 7.1 scoreless innings to stretch his personal streak to 22 straight without allowing a run. Wertz also struck out a career-high 10 Cats before exiting the game with two-on and one-out in the top of the eighth. :bang
