What really happenes

Got this on an email. If anything you'll get a good laugh and discussion. I have absolutely no connection with this story other than I recieved it and copied it onto here.

On Friday night, Pedersen offered the job to Pelini.

Interesting. Heard many of those same things myself. Dont buy the mistress excuse for not taking Army. I think he must have something else working. They wouldnt have offered it to him if that were the case.

As far as the brothers pelini goes. I think bigredmachine said it best about Carl in another post:

I dont see why Carl would leave. Maybe in a few yrs like Mike Stoops did, but he's only been in that shadow for not even 1 yr now, right? unless he was w/ green bay too? I just find it hard to believe that he would leave his bro to go be an assis coach somewhere else, when he has a strong potential to climb the ladder at NU quickly - Espec if Bo gets the HC gig. BUt if he didnt for some reason, I could see him leaving for a promo, but not a lateral. after all, NU v. Arizona? no comparison!

And as far as the OU/Bo rumor goes, Blackshirt makes a good point too

Remember that Bo has Head Coaching aspirations. Why would he take a lateral, even if it is OU? In a normal year, OU and NU are pretty parallel. I would think this would make Bo look pretty flaky in the head coaching brotherhood if he were to leave a job less than 1 yr after he took it, just for a lateral. It would appear that he is unloyal, and I would think this would only stunt his head coach goal. Plus why would Bob want Bo if he knows he has goals of being a head coach in less than 5 yrs, and most likely a lot less even if he didnt get the NU job.

My honest gut opinon. I think SP has something up his dirty sleeve. Why wait this long if it is Bo? He paid the respects to Solich by waiting a couple weeks now, and still no announcement. I think he's working something with an NFL coach. I really do. No reason to wait if Pelini were it. We are losing progress & $$ every day we dont have a coach. It would not take this long to negotiate with as many say is such a "simple no frills" guy. I would think he would just want the gig and be on his way. Somethings brewing, I can smell it... <_<

It is interesting to read the oldest posts to see if they were correct in predictions and such... this one is ridiculously correct though. First the story, which I believe to be true since Bo did go to Oklahoma and he did believe his feelings toward snyder and pederson were justified. Then the thought about Bo and the NFL coach hiring being possible, just brought up out of the blue. These guys were good. Just a lot different than the BS posts you see too often on here now.

OK, this gravedigging is getting excessive - but I spose it IS the offseason and in spite of myself, I am finding all of these to be extremely interesting. Huskerboard was a smaller, more literate place back then :P A lot of interesting stuff in that email and in these old posts. Didn't know HB was even around back then, mind blowing that this place was around two firings ago. Who knew the internet was even invented back then?

Specifically, SP doesn't want Barney

> >Cotton retained but Bo really likes his style and

> >wants him there;

Two parts to this: a sensible notion by SP, who gets a lot of venom for his failures. Nonetheless, it seems he made the right choice in passing over Pelini back then (I'm sure skersfan will agree with this). If true, it seems Bo got plenty more than a 'token' interview. Would you want that guy as your HC? I sure wouldn't. Though do I want this ('08/'09) Bo as our HC? Absolutely.

Second, a question directed to Big Willie, who I believe has alluded that Barney wasn't necessarily Bo's choice this time around but was suggested by Osborne. Was something different when Bo was hired this time around? That's two bits of conflicting information that I wanted to get set straight.

Another pretty loaded bit (the whole email was loaded, really...)

I think another poster mentioned in a discussion recently on future ADs that Jamrog loves Bo and would be a safe AD that doesn't go after his 'own guy', so that bit is interesting as well.

Moreover, the whole Carl wanting to get out of Bo's shadow thing is an interesting play I don't think many of us have considered...and the Gill bit, a lot of ambition for young Turner back then...

> > The only other coaches considered were

> >Urban Meyer and Rich Rodriquez.

Interesting the lengths we went to try to get RichRod. Again, it doesn't sound like SP was trying to destroy tradition.

Since

> >Frank is supposedly planning on divorcing Pam for his

> >young nurse (Lincoln Southeast, class of 81) and there

A LOT of smoke about Frank and this 'young nurse'...

Bo not only refused to do

> >it, he cussed out Pedersen and told him to make the

> >call himself! Said SP could fire him if he didn't like

> >it. You'll notice that it was SP who eventually made

Talk about a guy who has changed. I don't like Bo's 2003 thing with Snyder at all, but wow, what a way to talk to your AD. Not a situation that would have ever been healthy at NU. In the end I'm glad things worked out the way they did. As skersfans has said on numerous occasion, Bo has matured in his time away from NU, and now he's back and hopefully - to use Bo's words - here to stay, too.

Interestingly, I have no problems with Callahan's "f**'n hillbillies" comment, while most seem to like to bag on BC for that while having no problem with Bo cussing out one of college football's classy, great coaches.

I found that post fascinating. I wasn't on the board back then. It is kind of cool to go back and read some of the speculation.

I remember my grandmother telling me they offered the job to one of the assistants but he didn't even own a red jacket. I remember thinking "what, that's stupid. Who cares!?" Her comment makes a little more sense now.
