To ETR or any Mod for that matter

Recommended Posts

I got a question that I would like answered please. For some reason I was warned by ETR about being banned. It happened when I posted a Live Game Day chat room that I created so other members from the board could chat about the game while listening to it over the internet. It appears that I upset the powers to be for posting it without permission and was warned by ETR that if I posted it again I was going to be banned? Ok this is where I am confused. First off I read the board rules and I didn't see any rule being broken there. Also, I was wasn't advertising, selling, degrading, or trying to lead members from this board to other sites on the internet. I did it to have fun shooting the breeze if you will with other members of this board while listening to the game. Could one of you explain exactly what I did wrong? Thanks in advance. I consider this board to be the best Husker one out there and enjoy coming on here but I thought it was somewhat rude posting a reply on the topic about me being banned instead of pming me explaining what exactly I did wrong? I don't consider myself to be a chit stirrer and I am not trying to do this now, I just wish to get an explanation about what had taken place. Thanks

Let me take a stab at it...

A lot of time and effort has gone into promoting HuskerBoard. The growth has allowed the Board to operate without fee through the use of selected ads and promotional links you find at the top and bottom of pages - particularly the main page.

Given that, we are understandably protective of the Board, and it doesn't make sense to allow someone to promote alternatives to the Board - it draws away members and reduces "hits", which are a key measurement used to cost out ads. So, even though the chat was time-limited and doesn't directly promote a site that would be an alternative to HuskerBoard, it does promote a reduction in visits or hits.

One thing we are examining is the Board policy on this kind of thing in general.

Again, we just want to ensure that we can continue to maintain HuskerBoard without cost to members.

Hmmm Ok I could understand that more if I just signed up to the board and had called myself "Gameday Chat" or something to that effect. The funny thing is, Huskerboard still got it's "hits" because eventhough we were chatting about the game, I and most others would still posting messages on the game day forum. Again I am not trying to "rock the boat". I am just very confused about this entire "do it again and I will ban you" ordeal.

Oh and I have pm'ed Eric about it but haven't heard back from him yet.
