found a couple of these quotes in a different forum

"...assuming we sign seven more guys with the point average that we have already on pace for (85.55 points/player), we will wind up with 2,311 points. i think we will finish strong with a higher point average than we currently have, but for arguments sake, let's just use that as our assumption.

that # of points (2,311) would have us finishing 6th in 2002 under tosu and ahead of auburn, 4th in 2003 under usc and ahead of ou, and 5th in 2004 under miami and ahead of michigan.

not too bad i think... pretty good company.

the 2002 tosu class had players you may recall like: mike d'andrea, maurice clarret, bobby carpenter, aj hawk, tyler everret and doug datish and justin zwick.

the 2002 auburn class jr. starters in that class like tj jackson, troy reddick, will hearing aramashadu, and obamou

the 2003 usc class had: reggie bush, lendale white, steve smith, and whitney lewis among other contributors.

the 2003 ou class had: demorrio pleasant, donte nicholson, lawrence dampeer, and a host of other guys that will have to start next year...

the 2004 miami class had... well, there most famous member so far is willie williams, and that really is infamous, but it's a freshman class... you get the picture.

the 2004 michigan class had guys like chad henne and mike hart.

just some perspective on the kind of players that are coming in, and the kind of program we're heading toward.

i for one am looking forward to it."

"...Between 2001-2003 NU had 23 home games and only hosted 31 official recruits over that time. This year alone NU hosted 33 official recurits during home games. In 2002 NU had a drought of which they didn't have a single verbal between July and December. Other articles talked about NU's failure's at landing OL recruits in recent years (amazing given that this is Nebraska). BC and staff spent alot of time early in the recruiting cycle in looking at recruits FB schedules (Thursday games and bye weeks) and getting them scheduled for visits early. Kudos to this staff for recognizing the value that gameday in Lincoln has and going out of their way early on in the recruiting cycle to expose as many recruits as possible to the gameday atmosphere."

I thought those were some telling numbers

Just another reason why Solich relied to much on the universities prestiage and tradition. he just figured the kids would flock to NU.

More disturbing than the lack of commitments in that period was the total lack of effort, which continued through 2003. At the end of the season, we had no interest from the top players because we hadn't shown them any.

There was a day when we would have been in on a guy like Adrian Peterson right until the end, even if we didn't get him. I honestly don't even know if we bothered to offer him last year.
