Blackshirt Posted February 26, 2005 Share Posted February 26, 2005 Nebraska-Rice Postponed by Weather; Rescheduled for Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Houston, Texas – Saturday’s scheduled 1 p.m. game between No. 27 Nebraska and seventh-ranked Rice has been postponed because of inclement weather. Rain showers are expected to remain in the Houston area all day Saturday, forcing postponement of Saturday’s scheduled games between NU/Rice and New Mexico/Western Carolina. The Huskers, who are bidding for their first 7-0 start since 1992, will take on Rice at 2:30 p.m., while Sunday’s originally scheduled game between NU and Western Carolina will not be played. Alex Gordan mashed a big three run dinger to seal the deal for the Huskers. This is exactly why he's the preseason player of the year. He comes through in the clutch. Four Nebraska pitchers combined to hold the Owls to four hits. The top of the eighth proved to be the inning . 5 runs, 4 hits, including Gordan's homer. Quote Link to comment

NU moved from No. 27 to No. 18 after opening the season with a 7-0 record, its best start since the 1992 season. Quote Link to comment
