BIGREDFAN_in_OMAHA Posted November 15, 2008 Share Posted November 15, 2008 Joel Makovicka was on 1620 today talking about his experience and knowledge of Prince. While he did have some nice things to say such as Prince being a very knowledgable offense mind and being very engaging with recruits most of the rest revealed Prince to be a jerk. Makovicka was a GA at Virginia while Prince was the OC there. Makovicka said one of Prince's favorite sayings is "the players are the enemy and they will screw you every chance they get." Sometimes that made its way back to the players and that tended to lose them. Prince was a smooth talker that could get the guys like Freeman to the school but was intent on treating them poorly once they got there. Another thing Makovicka mentioned was how poorly Prince treats his assistant coaches. One example was that he made them run stairs. It wasn't done in a way to motivate the players. Prince did it in a way to belittle the assistants which in turn lessened their respect in the eyes of the players. No wonder they bolt en masse. Makovicka said that Prince has made no secret that he's like to coach in the NFL some day. Sounds like he already has the Callahan mentality but worse. Quote Link to comment
