Upon opening the safe, all he found was a hand severed by the original thief who had it removed when the ship went down and the in-rushing water slammed the safe door closed. Quote Link to comment

The previous diver's hand was caught when the clamshell closed, and rather than risk drowning, the diver severed his own hand to free himself. Quote Link to comment

What had happened? The man was a diver searching for pearls in giant clams. A previous diver had had his hand trapped in the cam and as his oxygen ran out the poor man was forced to cut off his own hand. Quote Link to comment
