Office Job

A man applied for a job in an office. When he arrived at the busy, noisy office he was told by the receptionist to fill out a form and wait until he was called. He completed the form and then sat and waited along with four other candidates who had arrived earlier. After a few minutes, he got up and went into an inner office and was subsequently given the job. The other candidates who had arrived earlier were angry. The manager explained why the man had been given the job. What was the reason?

Was the man hired as a direct result of entering the office before the other candidates?

Was the man hired because he showed initative/greater desire by entering the office before the other candidates?

The manager was deaf. When he called for the next candidate, he used sign language. None of the other candidates understaood him, so they didn't get the job,

But you're on the right track.

The manager called for the next candidate, but the other three couldn't hear him because of the noise in the office. The one that stood up was deaf, and therefore not distracted by the noise, and was subsequently given the first interview and thus the job.

When I answer no these types of posts, it doesn't mean that all parts of the question are incorrect, some may fit, some may not, you have to piece it together with yes or no questions...

Was there but this one quality that separated the 4 dandidates?

Did this one quality separate the manager from the 4 candidates?

Did this one quality separate the manager and the candidate who was hired from the other 3 candidates?

I think , to sum it up, the manager and the hired candidate had this one quality and the other three candidates did not.
