Randle may play

Recommended Posts

Quote from Journal Star says;

But perhaps the most interesting name mentioned was that of defensive tackle Thaddeus Randle — a 6-foot-1, 260-pound native of Galena Park, Texas. Pelini said Randle has impressed with his pass-rushing ability.

“Those guys all potentially (could play),” Pelini said. “No decision’s been made to play them or not, and probably won’t be made until game time, when we see how the game’s flowing for us.”

As for Randle, Pelini said: “He’s got a knack for it. He’s got fast feet. He’s got great speed off the ball. And those are what you look for. The other things you can teach — the hand fighting, the stuff like that.

all camp not a word, and now Carl Pelini reveals that twist....

this staff is looking to optimize the system they intend to play. Redshirt or not, has gone out the window as they make player selections on the basis of what can a particular kid bring to our system...

Pelinis want speed on the field....this is another way of getting it. Randle was viewed as a guy with great upside but almost a certain RS based on the lines current depth....and now this...

These guys are looking to win and are pulling out all the stops.

Doc Sadler too said red shirting is less mainstream for his program.

The change is; win now, recruit well every year, and classes will shake out to the benefit of the system they intend to play.

We'll know in a couple of years whether last year's mass redshirt campaign was an aberration or the rule in Bo's regime. More and more it's looking like an aberration, but the sample size is still way too small to take much out of.

agree. perhaps they will alternate or go for 50 50 or some number based on needs per the situation, injury, graduation, talent....the whole class red shirt thing is history in my view....just dont see it as practical for a program installing a new system....years out you might fill the cupboard to enable changes you want to make in your own system...like last years class did for this current team.
