Street Novelist
ISU wins in Nebraska for first time since 1977 October 24, 2009 5:04 PM Posted by ESPN.com's Tim Griffin No, that isn't a misprint. Iowa State indeed went into Nebraska and claimed a gritty 9-7 victory over the Cornhuskers. Making Paul Rhoads' feat even more remarkable, the Cyclones did it without starting quarterback Austen Arnaud and starting tailback Alexander Robinson. But an opportunistic defense forced eight turnovers, including four inside the ISU 5. After hearing Bo Pelini's post-game press conference, he and the rest of the Nebraska press corps seemed like they were in a case of shock after the loss. What stunned me is that Pelini never inserted freshman quarterback Cody Green into the game for at least a series or two to try for a jolt for his offense that was led by Zac Lee. Pelini argued that Lee was the least of his problems and he was right. But maybe the presence of a new quarterback would have shook some lethargy from the rest of the team. It undoubtedly has to be the biggest victory for the Cyclones since the Dan McCarney era. ISU is now 5-3 with a favorable schedule looking like the Cyclones should squeeze a victory during the rest of the season to qualify for a bowl game. Paul Rhoads has done a masterful job in his first season. His team is only a blocked extra point in the last minute in a conference-opening loss to Kansas State from being in first place in the North Division. But after Saturday, he probably isn't complaining too much as he savors the rare victory at Nebraska. http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/55...time-since-1977 Quote Link to comment

Vince from ShamWOW
But maybe the presence of a new quarterback would have shook some lethargy from the rest of the team. Maybe, but I am certain having them pull their heads from their butts and have them, play like Huskers would have shook lethargy from them as well. I swear to God, these NU players have no clue as to what NU Football is all about and what those ahead of them accomplished. Quote Link to comment
