Count 'Bility
The playcalling has been semiagressive in the first half of the past few games, but once a 2 possession lead is reached, Wats turns to the "dont f#*k it up page". Then the grind out comes, now with that, by the 4th quarter, the D starts to get tired and the runs start to get a little longer. If we ran the ball in the 1st qtr at the regularity as we do in the 4th with a lead when we've been runnin for a half now, it would just be 3'n'out after 3'n'out. The play-boots and passes early in the down series early in the game have been enough against fresh legs to get the points we need. I think you'll see us play it similar in this game. GBRsal
that's not necessarily true though. part of the problem with the run game has been Helu's boogered up shoulder. with sexy rexy back - we should be able to do some damage running the ball throughout the game. A lot of the reason Texass' rush defense stats are so good is that nobody has tried to run against them (or got so far behind early that they had to abandon the run.) That shouldn't happen this week (please, god...) If we can carve out enough yards between the tackles to make them respect the run game, the play action should start to work. if we can contain Shitley (and that's a big 'if') get some good hits on Colt the dolt, and keep the game on the texass side of the field, good things will happen. if we start kicking the ball around and get behind by more than 10 or 14 points we'll be fekked. HUSKER FREAK
IMO we need to run the ball switching off with Helu and Burkhead frequently, while keeping the fullback in the game. The best way to stretch them out and to keep them honest is to mix in a lot of play action pass. Espeacially when they start loading the box. we do not need to be fancy just keep them on their toes and we may have a chance. Our D can not be on the field as much as they were against Colorado. If they are we will have No shot at winning. Quote Link to comment
