Will Shields nearly wound up at Arkansas on defense

For Shields, it came down to Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tulsa, Arkansas and Nebraska. Shields chose Nebraska. “Nebraska had a lot of things going for it at the time, and my education was important,” Shields said. “Their academic program was great. I got to graduate in four years. It was perfect.”

Shields was a 12-time Pro Bowl selection with Kansas City. However, his legacy goes beyond the field. Shields was received the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in 2003

Great article. I wonder what an impact it would have had on NU in the early 90's if Shields had gone to Arky? Also, I wonder how well he would have fared in his career if he'd gone elsewhere? I can't imagine he would have had a better college and pro career than he had.
