Huskers help USA volleyball win gold

Former Huskers Nancy Metcalf (11 points on 10 kills and a block) and Kayla Banwarth (a team-high six digs) helped the United States rally from a two-set deficit to defeat Brazil 28-30, 18-25, 25-22, 25-21, 15-11 on Friday night in the championship match of the Pan American Cup in Juarez, Mexico.

The U.S. team, which included no players expected to be on the Olympic team, won its first gold medal at this tournament since 2003 and prevented Brazil from a record-tying fourth gold.

Congratulations to Nancy and Kayla. Gold medals look mighty nice on the mantlepiece. :thumbs:bigredn:
