carlfense
Well done, Paul. Well done. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is holding up a vote on the Defense Authorization Act until he gets a vote on his amendment affirming the Sixth Amendment of the Constitution and the indefinite detention of Americans. Paul is seeking an agreement in principle to get a vote on his amendment when the Senate takes up the defense authorization bill that funds and sets the agenda for the U.S. military.... Paul’s amendment would give American citizens being held by the military rights to a fair trial with a jury of peers and the right to confront the witnesses against him or her. http://www.opposingv...e-authorization Link to comment
zoogs
Haha! Am I understanding this right, that his proposed amendment is essentially "By the way, the 6th Amendment, let's remember that one still exists." ?! Link to comment
carlfense
It's an attempt at blocking a way around the Sixth. Link to comment
Roark
I was skeptical of Rand Paul when he started campaigning with the Tea Party wing of the neoconservatives, but so far he seems to be doing a pretty good job defending the Constitution. Link to comment
Undone
There are few good ones like Rand left (now that his dad has retired). This is a huge, HUGE issue in principle. Link to comment

I wish he hadn't ever gone down that path, as there's just too much Tea Party baggage with the voting populous. Personally, I consider him a libertarian first. But that's just me. Link to comment

TGHusker
Rand Paul hints at a 2016 run: http://www.mcclatchy...ts-at-2016.html It may be time for a true Libertarian. I've been disappointed in the Repubicans that I've voted for - Even though Rand is a Repub, I believe his heart is Libertarian. If we'd listen to his dad 20 years ago, we may not be in this mess today. 2 Link to comment
