wiuhusker
New Mac owner here: Wondering what the easiest way to convert video originally saved for use on Windows for use on Mac. Keep in mind I am not very advanced in my knowledge of technology. Thanks in advance Quote Link to comment
Landlord
There shouldn't be any video files that play on one OS but not the other.. Quote Link to comment
wiuhusker
I was hoping that wasn't the response I was going to get. I am trying to get video files from an external hard drive on to my computer to be able to edit and make highlights of them. When I try to open the file it says i don't have an application to play the movie file but it won't let me open QuickTime. Not sure what to do Quote Link to comment

wiuhusker
Thank you. I can at least view the videos now. If i want to edit these clips in iMovie is there anything in particular i need to do to the file? Or is there a better function to accomplish this other than iMovie? Thanks for the help Landlord Quote Link to comment
Landlord
If you want to edit them in iMovie, they will need to be converted. Handbrake is the best Mac conversion tool I know of, and if I remember correctly it's also free. iMovie is powerful software for casual use, I'd stick with it. Quote Link to comment
