Roxy15
The person replied to my recipe request on a cooking board that I belong to. She is a good cook. I don't like parsley so I asked her if I could leave it out. Will check later to see what she says. This is what she said and her recipe for hushpuppies. This recipe is a south Louisiana recipe; so if you like it a little less spicy, hold back on the peppers. Hushpuppies: Ingredients: 1-1/2 Cups Yellow Cornmeal 1/2 Cup All-Purpose Flour 2 Tsp. Baking Powder 1/2 Tsp. Salt 1/8 Tsp. Black Pepper 1/8 Tsp. Cayenne Pepper 3/4 Cup Milk 1/2 Cup Finely Chopped Green Onion Or 1/2 Cup Finely Chopped Yellow Onion 1/4 Cup Finely Chopped Jalapeno Pepper-(Opt.) 1 Egg, Beaten 1/4 Cup Finely Chopped ParsleyIn a medium glass bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well.Heat 2 inches of oil to 375 degrees.Drop by teaspoonful-(or use small cookie scoop)-into the hot oil until golden brown-(approximately 3 minutes). Serve hot. 1 Quote Link to comment

Roxy15
The lady replied when I asked her if I could omit the parsley and this is what she said: sure, you can leave out the parsley. I know some who have added cooked bacon bits in this recipe. Its pretty forgiving recipe. Quote Link to comment
