Husker Psycho
Currently this year Ohio State has recruited 16 (4 and 5 star) elite players in this years class. In 2013 they landed 18 elite (4 and 5 star) players. In the past few years Alabama has recruited as many as 22 elite players (4 and 5 star)... in one class. Recruiting matters. Recruiting elite or the very best talent is crucial to have the best chance at winning a national championship, that is true. Wanna know what else is crucial to winning national championships? Having great coaches Having schemes the players can execute at a high level while minimizing mistakes and mental errors Staying healthy Developing your players Consistently watching film and improving your game Players being team oriented and more wanting to win than padding their stats Having players with excellent work ethic Players staying out of trouble off the field Players taking their school work seriously Fortuitous calls by refs that save a team's season Lucky breaks/bounces of the ball Stated plainly, recruiting great/elite talent is crucial certainly. But there are so many other factors which go into how a team does, to try and reduce it all to just recruiting is absurd. You're going to have to do better than that bub. Take a look at the title of the thread. That's why the comments and discussion focused on recruiting. I never once said it's ALL recruiting... ever... so don't attempt to put words in my mouth. Recruiting is critical... and so is "having great coaches". That's the proverbial "one-two" punch that is critical in college football success. Both are equally critical to success. 18 years should have been long enough for Nebraska to learn the critical importance of recruiting and the critical affect coaches have on recruiting... and the affect that the quality of a teams coaches has on recruiting. Other teams learned the lesson... we didn't. Quote Link to comment
