The impetus for these queries in Chicago sat a few podiums over, fielding many of the same questions. The scene surrounding Scott Frost last month was not all that different from the circus that followed Harbaugh during his first Big Ten Media Days three years ago. Like Harbaugh, Frost is a former quarterback who is a tie between alumni and the ever-aging glory days of his alma mater.

Like Harbaugh, Frost took another off-the-radar program to great heights before returning home.

“I’m just excited to start the process of getting Nebraska back where it belongs, making it competitive and trying to compete for championships,” said Frost, who quarterbacked the Huskers to their last national title in 1997. “Thrilled to be doing it at home around an unbelievable group of people.”

The combination of Frost coaching UCF to an undefeated season and returning to a power that has not won a conference title in 19 years has created a frenzy in the Cornhusker State. The Omaha World-Herald has already published both a biography and a 24-page comic book highlighting the homecoming.

Now comes the hard part: Coaching — and winning — football games.
