This tasty mulled-wine is a German Christmas specialty. It is the signature drink at Christmas markets across Germany and it warms you from the inside out!"

 

Glühwein (Mulled Wine)


1 gallon red wine
8 (3 inch) cinnamon sticks
12 whole cloves
2 whole star anise pods
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brandy
1 orange, sliced into rounds
1 lemon, Zested and juiced 

 

If you have cheesecloth make a small bundle with cloves and star anise( this just makes it a little easier to serve).

 

Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker. Stir to fully combine.

 

Cook on LOW for 1 hour. stir making 
Sure all the sugar is dissolved.

 

Reduce heat to warm for serving. Ladle into mugs or heatproof glasses and garnish as desired.

 

Storage: Strain leftovers to remove spices, then refrigerate in a covered jar or pitcher for up to 2 days.
