Cincinnati: What Did We Learn?

What does Holgó need to figure out? If they play two deep safeties, he did the right thing.
Poster may have been thinking NU would need to get a better run game figured out with the look Cindy was giving them. Other than that, not sure what he could be referencing, though there are still ways to scheme a deep throw or two during the game even with that type of look.

I am no college football offense expert but generally he has to figure out:

1) continue to throw short which is what the opponent wants you to do because they intend to rally and tackle and wait for you to miss a throw or come up short
2) Run them out of the deep look- you could argue he was trying to do this
3) Allow your WR to try to beat their safeties which is frought with potential TO issues, game changing WR can do this despite the shell

So, yes, Holgy has to figure out what he is going to do when they repeatedly give you this look because you'll see almost every opponent do it until they show they can force you out or you beat it

Good lord, I don’t disagree. The man LOVES attention and being an influencer. It

It was refreshing in the beginning, but’s getting irritating.
I don't blame him for doing it at all.

It is just interesting how Frost having a beer or golfing was an issue but Rhule trying to start his own podcast is totally okay

Hard to say on this one. In these situations the announcers usually credit the coach for seeing something he didn't like at the last second -- an alignment or personnel that was about to be exploited. Given all the "break, don't bend" backpedaling on the last couple drives that could have been the case. Was Rhule questioned about the time out post-game? Did he ever say the lack of pass rush was intentional, choosing to hold the line against the QB draws and scrambles that were killing them?

I don't know if he was asked about it. We don't have a media contingent that is very good about asking tough questions, especially after wins.

But it did not appear to be a panic reaction to something they saw. He was talking with Butler on the sideline, then calls the official over, but still doesn't call timeout right away. We didn't appear to be very set in our alignment so maybe they saw it coming but waited a second to see if we'd get it figured out. But it was mainly the DL flipping around, so it's not like the coverage was messed up.

Would successfully dinking and dunking wide open 5-10 yards a pop every time with your quarterback completing 80% of his passes en route to a win count as figuring out what to do?

So, he basically was doing what he should be doing.

We need to get better at running the ball…as he was trying to do.

And….get better in the red zone.

They “Struggled” because they were evenly matched. You can tell they’re both top ten teams. Except for Manning.

According to Zatechka, he mentioned there was an uncovered WR on that 4th down. That was stated during his postgame call-in show with Justice that night, I believe In the first 5-15min of the show.

He understood why people would be questioning the timeout but he commented how he thinks it’s better to call the timeout to prevent a bigger busted play vs allowing the offense time to regroup and still get the first down.

Yeah, now that I watch it again, it was a nickel-back type that was trying to flip sides. I thought it was more of an OLB. So that makes sense.
