Husker QB - TJ Lateef

I'd take Lateef. Regardless of whether TJ or DR is the better quarterback, I think TJ's skils fit the rest of the offense (personnel and scheme) better than a pocket passer such as DR.

Plus I just like watching the offense with a dual threat QB.

*usual disclaimer about needing more sample size to be comfortable that what we've seen from TJ is legit.
Tj seems to have a fire in his belly.

I dont think dr is hungry enough to max out whatever his potential might be.

Where exactly does this line of thinking come from? What is it about TJ that shows his "fire," and what is it about Raiola that doesn't?
I think Dylan has a ton of fire. He has exceeded my expectations with his leadership and maturity. What has yet to meet what I expected is his processing speed and throwing the ball with purpose and urgency. Personally, I think he's thinking way too much and playing with a "no mistakes" mentality. You see it in his end zone fade overthrows, his holding the ball to long in a pocket vs trusting his eyes and arm, and when he does throw often it looks like me throwing with my kids at a park.

Lateef doesn't have the reps so difficult to assess. He does throw with some zip and can run a bit. Read 1 Y/[N] -> read 2 Y/[N] -> tuck and run.

The big question for me with TJ is, how does he respond when things don't go well? At UCLA, everything went great. What now happens in a hostile environment after he throws a pick and gets down by 7 points? Does he respond to the moment and steps up his game, or does he start questioning himself and his training?

Wonder if Dayton decommitting is a sign of Lateef's future.
With the way college football is set up today, Dayton can go get playing time somewhere else, continue to build his skill set, and if he wanted to or if the stars aligned in a couple years... Transfer to Nebraska. Or not. No big deal either way. Nebraska should be trying to get and pay the players that are going to help the team win. This should be bigger than the Rioala name alone.

At the end of the day, college teams will need to start treating rosters with salary constraints and not just the scholarship constraints that we've always had. While we'd all love for TJ and Dylan to both be on the team together, the ~$1M-$5M to keep both of them could go towards OL, DL, etc. It's just not great roster construction to have 2 starting QB's on the payroll.

Let’s be honest. Dylan has def made our program better and played his a$$ off. Since he was a freshman last year until now, he has been doing pretty well. Nitpick all ya want to, he’s pretty freaking good. Plenty of starts against all types of teams, he could def improve. I’m glad he’s out QB and i think we are better with him.

TJ played some mop up duty early on and looked good. Against USC in the lights and pressure, not so good. Did everything he could/should against a bad UCLA team.

To dismiss how bad we have been and actually have a Dylan type that makes us better, get over yourselves. He has been a really good player for us.

Now we have the “backup.” TJ did everything to win the UCLA game and build his confidence. Let’s see if it translates. I hope it does.
I just don’t like casting negative and I don’t want to get too high. The whole entire team must be ready to take on PSU. If we win and TJ is good, it won’t just be because of him.

If we lose and it’s close, it won’t be because we didn’t have DR. These last 2 games are a full on team effort.

I loved this, but can’t emphasize enough how much I agree so I’ll throw words at it.

And I think we’re 8-2 if DR doesn’t get injured
