All fans everywhere want positive results and a good program trajectory.I understand but was just saying that Nebraska fans want to see positive results at the end of the day.
This is why not getting Kehres might be a blessing. HIs record in D3 as a HC does draw the comparisons to Cignetti's career. IMHO, like folks figured we'd also have that big 3rd season swing that Rhule had at Temple and Baylor. Looking at those 2 schools and then our year 3 is frustrating because of the 3rd year bump we didn't get. And we are in year 10+ of wandering as fans. Makes patience harder. All fans everywhere want positive results and a good program trajectory.
Some fans have zero patience and are unwilling to acknowledge the little steps that may be required to get to the positive results. They think unlikely situations like Cignetti at Indiana are the norm and not the exception.
I get it. The grass is always greener somewhere else. There’s always a better, more perfect example to point to. Unfortunately it isn’t that easy or common in real life. Nebraska fans wanted to get rid of Osborne before he got over the hump with Oklahoma. They almost got their wish. And yes, I know money, nil and the portal have changed the landscape, but building/improving a program hasn’t really changed all that much.
Particularly if you fancy yourself as a CEO.Speaking for myself, I want a coach that knows quality coordinators and assistants, who only leave due to promotions elsewhere, not poor performance.
Same, Geep sounds like a good hire thoughFWIW...if we had got Kehres and Geep i would have been very happy with the moves and excited to see what we would have next year.
No doubt Nebraska fan’s patience has been severely tested for far too long. This is why not getting Kehres might be a blessing. HIs record in D3 as a HC does draw the comparisons to Cignetti's career. Was a four-star a year ago, true freshman at GT this past season.
And I understand where you are coming from but how much time do you think or expect a position coach or head coach has to show positive results? For example Donnie had four years to improve the o-line yet he should have been fired by all accounts last season when the o-line looked the way it did. Nebraska offers a ton of resources to student athletes (young men) but bc we don't have the best developers, or recruiters as coaches we are stuck in rut of under performing and over paying the coaches. Imo the time to build or show improvement is 3 years. If you can't get a team to have positive results within that time frame their are plenty of coaches that will certainly try and have. The thing that I will say that I believe that hurt Matt Rhule from the start was (a: coming from the NFL and being out of the college game and (b: making the right hires and bringing coaches with him that you can say aren't good. We all want to see Nebraska succeed but we are tired of seeing the same patterns of losing on a consistent basis. All fans everywhere want positive results and a good program trajectory.

Agree. Back to back bowls. First time since 2014. Last year first bowl since 2016. Evening up on the one score losses under Rhule. 2027 class looks very nice. Firing/demoting guys. Got Ekler. He's trying. Something I didn't really think Frost or Riley were doing. No doubt Nebraska fan’s patience has been severely tested for far too long.
I know people want immediate satisfaction. But I also know every head coaching change we have made since Frank was fired has not come close to providing it. So far Rhule has provided visible, slow improvement.
And yes, this 3rd season was a particular disappointment due to the relatively easy schedule. I don’t think it is near time to be pulling the fire alarm. Mostly because there are no guarantees even with the big name of the day hires. IMO it takes a rare convergence of all factors for things to turn quickly. Absent the lightning in a bottle, I’ll be content seeing small changes and improvements, which I believe Rhule has been providing.
I don’t have an exact timeline answer for you. All I know is, the end of the 3rd season, when you lost your starting QB for the last 3 games, and you showed marked improvement the first 2 years with a stall in year 3, is maybe a bit premature for all this rinse and repeat talk. Obviously others disagree. And I understand where you are coming from but how much time do you think or expect a position coach or head coach has to show positive results?
