Most of why I posted this was the Ukraine stuff. It’s incredibly low hanging fruit to be a decent, non-stupid human about. And they can’t do it even for that. Makes me pretty hopeless. Like maybe we were better off without the internet. I’d miss streaming services though. I’ll report back when I come to a decision.
Oh yeah. They were complaining about Zelensky the other day. They thought the concerns about his attire in the White House were legit. I asked them if they knew why he wore that outfit, telling them he wears it to support his people as he fights with them (as opposed to draft-dodging with some help from Daddy - internal monologue) and they didn’t get why he doesn’t show some respect and throw on a suit. In the end they came down that he is a con man who just wants money from people.

And yes, the irony of a Trump supporter saying that was completely lost on them.

Social media and the internet have made misinformation/disinformation virtually unstoppable. And AI is adding to the problem. Trump and MAGA didn’t invent straight up lying and manipulation but they have perfected it. MAGA/Trump supporters believe in a whole alternate reality and it’s almost impossible to prove anything otherwise when nothing is trusted. It’s a s#!t sandwich and it’s only going to get worse.

Inflation and immigrants were the #1 reason for dumping the nightmare that was Joe Biden.

When eggs double in price and tariffs make the cost of everything else soar, they will still blame Joe Biden against all good and holy reason. They might not even notice that the immigrants haven't gone anywhere.

There's rumbling that some Republicans are not pleased with the Trump/Musk wrecking ball, but we need to see exponentially more of them really soon, or the narrative will cement itself.

I'd hate to waste a PD Hall of Fame post by not reminding Archy to kick himself in the nuts. He claims it's impossible but he's just not trying hard enough.

People I work with were baffled I would have voted for Kamala or Biden. It's like yeah, there's actually quite a lot I didn't like about her as a candidate, but it was infinitesimally better than this s#!t show.

One guy was saying how dumb the Gulf renaming was. I'm like, buddy this is the bulls#!t you signed up for, so buckle up! Then he talked about how Canada was sending fentanyl across the border too and Trump got them to do something about it so he removed the tariffs. To which I kindly informed him that Trump got played because Canada had already committed those resources some time ago, and Mexico had already sent troops to the border before. I probably should have brought up the fact that an insignificant amount of fentanyl comes across the Canadian border, or that traditionally over stayed visas are the leading rate of illegal immigration in the US. Or how could Biden have had open borders if his administration was catching more illegal immigration than Trump ever did? But I'd probably just be met with a not uh, or you another hippy lib.

I had an epiphany a few months ago regarding why dems are blue and maga is red, and it comes down to blood.

Democrats can think ahead and think outside their own personal interest and as a result can percieve politicians that would bring national pain and therefore vote against it so that the nation and themselves will not be wounded, thus their blood stays blue.

MAGA cannot think ahead, cannot think outside their own personal interests, can not discern bulls#!t from the truth and therefore must themselves be directly wounded before they recognize bad actors. They must bleed (metaphorically) in order to learn, thus their color is red.

Every narrative from a reformed maga or republican starts off with "I was xyz before something "insert elected official" did that directly impacted me/my family and I came to realize I had been on the wrong side all along."

This is why I hope all the MAGA recieve, in kind, everything they voted for.

If it weren’t for debunked bulls#!t, unequal whataboutisms and Kremlin propaganda, our resident Trump/MAGA loyalists wouldn’t have jack sh!t to offer to any discussion. Get out of your bubble, read a frikken book, educate yourself and try to make one f#&%ing valid point would ya.

You know what's baffling and interesting to me? 10 years ago I would have figured a guy like you should have been a poster boy to become a magat. And yet here we are! Must be all that hippy liberal rocky mountain high corrupting you.  :laughpound

DuuUuUde…A guy “like me”?

LOL

I mean yeah, I was on the conservative side and still am. But MAGA left me in the dust with that crazy hard right turn over the cliff towards Trumpism. I’ve maybe softened more on the social issues because hey, I don’t care what other people do that doesn’t directly affect me. You wanna slam some guy in the a$$ or have a “they” pronoun, I don’t really like hearing about it but I also don’t care even though it’s not for me. Life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, whatever floats your boat as long as I don’t have to actively condone it.

Had a good customer in here yesterday, pretty strong MAGA guy, and he was complaining about the people pushing for men in women’s sports. So I asked him, who is really advocating for that. I can’t think of more than a limited handful on the fringe that really push for that. But MAGA acts like it’s every Dems wet dream. It isn’t. It’s just used as red meat to rally the Trump base. Pretty much like everything they use to jack up their base.

Now I’m off to Pearl Street in Boulder to hang with my homies.

My mom hates Trump but she falls for that stuff too. I tell her every time she brings it up, it's not really a thing the DNC fights for. It's something that a tiny miniscule care about, and when 1 person cares about it the Republicans are geniuses at blowing it up into a big thing to piss their base off with. Whatever they want their base to think the Democrat agenda is, they can make them think it.

I was going to reply to @Born N Bled Red above but this works as well.

At some point after decades of a media diet consisting primarily of non-stop ragebaiting propaganda, the Republican base lost the ability to think for themselves. They lack critical thinking skills, they lack intellectual curiosity, the lack the ability to empathize with anyone not in the group, etc. They just adopt whatever Trump decides the party's position is. Example:

I'll give you 3 guesses when the dip occurred.

At this point the list of reasons I could never be a Republican is very long, but one reason is I abhor blind obedience of authority. That's super important to the Republican power structure and it only compounds this problem. Challenging his more idiotic positions isn't allowed.

Anybody that supports or defends Trump on anything, even the tiniest insignificant partisan detail, is a part of the problem and is an enemy of this country. f#&% you and f#&% MAGA and the GOP.

Put these posters on ignore and stop responding to them. Shut them out and alienate them. They will quit posting and leave this site if nobody can see their cancerous drivel and if everyone stops engaging with them. f#&% em.

Replying to them and stupidly thinking they will enlighten you about anything just contributes to the problem. Don’t be part of the problem.

One can of Bud Light and they lost their damn minds!

got to hand it to Archy.   arguing in favor of the SC ruling that s#!t in our water is fine is quite the take.   glad he is happy about that ruling.
