We haven’t got it yet, so I’m guessing we never will. Not surprising. To mount any sort of semi-coherent defense they would have to acknowledge to themselves, even slightly, that they were defensing the indefensible. Easier to drive by with a laughy emoji and keep deluding themselves. Gotta own the libs (which includes anyone remotely left of them or anyone who doesn’t blindly support Trump just like them.)I honestly didn't expect a confessional in the Trump Voter Safe Space. If someone in there is lying or telling the truth, it doesn't much matter. But pretending there's a cushion between not voting for Trump and constantly making excuses for Trump is the most cowardly place to be.
A Trump voter making a full-throated defense of their vote would be refreshing at this point.

I don't think there's much of a disconnect, just from my anecdotal view.Sometimes we stop and remind ourselves that half the country is actually thrilled by this development --- this is the morning in America they always dreamed of. Right? Or is there some disconnect between owning the libs and the real-world consequences of a Trump administration?
This is why I want to have an honest conversation with a Trump voter.
This is my issue with the thread. It tells me there isn’t going to be an honest conversation both ways. I would participate in good faith if a thread was opened to discuss much of what Guy wants to talk about. I’d give real honest feedback without the snark, or attack vibes, memes, or X posts that I and others give on most every other thread.
I don't think the internet is the right hub for that, at least not anymore. Maybe it was at one point. It's too easy to be passive and not have to actually deal with someone's views and contrary opinions. But, it's particularly not going to happen from a thread that was a self-admitted trap laced with performative antagonism

If Guy truly wanted a discussion of why people think what they think and vote the way they do on either side of the isle and or the Libertarian point of view, then I hope he opens a new non trap thread. No memes allowed, no X posts to get a point across. No snark geared at a poster. Maybe not immediately attacking someone’s post before actually digesting it. Polite disagreement allowed or find a different thread to participate in. There are plenty of them here for that
What do you say @Guy Chamberlin?
My advice if this is true, try starting a thread like that vs one that is a self proclaimed “trap”.My desire to understand the Trump voter could not be more sincere.
Giving my opinion with a mix of snark, memes, words, and links while exposing the lies and false posts that Buster makes weekly. Ya Got me!!!You are already doing all your Archy stuff in every other thread, so I'm not sure what you would do differently in the Trump Voter Safe Space
I think you're right to an extent, but I also know many people have said to me over the years that they feel Huskerboard's P&R forum is distinctly liberal and that the behaviors of the "group/mob mentality" there turn them off from engaging.HuskerBoard is different than most social media. Being such a small community, we know a lot about each other. I know Guy lives in Marin, Archy lives in Kansas, I've met Enhance and Lorewarn and Mierin. Everyone knows I'm in Lincoln. There's a more personal nature to political discussions than on most social media, where you know nothing about the person you're talking to.
My two cents - that leads people to be more hesitant about discussing their trump support.

I assume the entirety of your post means you have no interest in a dedicated thread towards learning about and discussing why each side believes what they? Outside of the Utopia threads which admitting don’t accomplish much outside of highlighting the mistakes of the other side of the political isle. Most everyone does that. Oh well, just stick with “the trap” thread I guess.
I'd say P&R is fairly centrist, but decidedly anti-Trump. BRB, JJ, and TG are major contributors who are on the right of a true political spectrum, and oppose the orange doofus. To call that opposition left leaning is another symptom of a greater problem; the delusion of the MAGA movement, which is without a doubt extreme far right and this time around truly fascist.I think you're right to an extent, but I also know many people have said to me over the years that they feel Huskerboard's P&R forum is distinctly liberal and that the behaviors of the "group/mob mentality" there turn them off from engaging.
As a result, people have told me they're not interested in posting there, and I'm certain they aren't interested in trying to have an earnest discussion and admission of "why they voted for Trump" because of it. Some might call that cowardly, disassociative, what have you. That may be true, but I also don't think most people want to willingly walk into a perceived firestorm, whether their perception is fair or not.
