  1. All I would need is an extra hour to prime before watching the games... OR- He would have to change up his defensive scheme. More attacking and different looks. Before recruiting ANYBODY on D, make sure they can tackle! Replace OC, DC, TE coach, LB coach, S&C coaching staff (with the exception of a couple players, NU looks weak and soft). Even greater emphasis on recruiting (it is getting better). Develop players. If he can succesfully develop players, then our depth would be better and we could substitute more. Bench undeperforming players. Embrace the fans and media (easier said than done!) stop turning a major advantage of NU football into a negatively motivational tool and divisive force. I don't think he changes a thing.
  2. If we didn't throw 3 picks vs Wisky last year...we win. If we didn't fumble a punt and kickoff and rough the punter and give up 8 3rd down conversions...we beat Michigan IF we didn't fumble twice in the red zone...we beat Northwestern This is a fun game!!!
  3. I don't see why this has to be so polarizing? Our D has laid some eggs...obviously. In addition, Martinez has shown a penchant for turnovers at the worst times (is there a good time?) By that, I mean in big games against better opponents. Is it bad to say we need help in both areas?
  4. I have always liked Bo. however, in my opinion, if there's one thing Bo needs to get it's that he needs to stop complaining how hard it is to recruit here. However true it may be, TO got some pretty good talent to come here...that guy between Solich and Pelini got some serious talent to come here...it CAN be done! I have heard him bring it up several times (probably as a preemptive excuse as to why his classes are not going to be that good). Constantly complaining about it (especially in the media) almost initiates a self-fulfilling prophecy. Recruits hear it, parents hear it and COACHES HEAR IT!!! "So it's between us and NU, well even their coach knows nobody wants to go to that flat unpopulated wasteland!" (Overly dramatic for effect...but I'm sure they plant that seed with common recruits...I would.) Bo needs to embrace and harp on the rich tradition and history of NU, explain why every top recruit should WANT to come here and explain to recruits that we are filling those position spots with talented recruits that can't wait to come to NU! Change the perception, create the demand (I know, I know....easier said than done). I still wonder how he didn't leverage Suh's ridiculous career@ NU into landing ONE of the top 3 DTs??? I've heard all about his soft sell and how some recruits appreciate it. However, you have to read each recruit and situation and know when to force the issue... Just sayin'...
  5. This Patty-cake peek-a-boo thing the DLine does just doesn't cut it. Attack & blitz...worked vs OSU, worked for Mich st vs mich last year. Yes, you'll get burned for a big play once in awhile, but you'll force some mistakes, bad throws, turnovers 3&outs, etc. what is better...3&out, 3&out, fG, 3&out, TD, 3&out or TD, TD, TD, TD, TD, TD? I for one hope to see some changes in place for NW & Mich...
  6. Is there a Cliffs Notes version of the OP?
  7. 2-Gap... Wait, is that 2 words?
  8. My expectations are simple (seemingly)... 1. Put our best athletes on the field at EVERY position (including QB) 2. Not get embarrassed on national TV twice every season 3. To have a D not quit EVER no matter what the score 4. Develop back-ups 5. Develop the talent they do get 6. Utilize the strengths of your QB (not a pocket passer) 7. Protect the football 8. Appoint team captains for season 9. Give out Blackshirts before season starts (back-ups, you want one...earn it! Starters, you want to keep it...get better!) 10. Ditch 2-gap 11. Blitz, blitz and blitz some more 12. If something works on O, stick with it. 13. Recruit speed 14. Find new special teams coach
  9. If you run a 5.2 40yd @ LB you might get a look... or if you are a pre-med with a 4.3GPA and can understand the Astrophysics and Heiroglyphics that appear to be our defensive scheme...you are perfectly suited to whiff a tackle and give up TDs to a mobile QB.
