  1. You know what's ridiculous? If you do a fantasy match up sim at WhatIfSports.com the 2012 Bama team dominates the 97 Skers every time! I closed it once I saw Alabama 63, Nebraska 3. Come on! I did a simulation match up of ten games on a neutral field on the website of every non sec historical team I could find to pit against the 2012 Crimson Tide and so far the ONLY team that beat them 4 out of 6 tries was the 2001 Miami Hurricanes. Too bad you can't choose the 1995 Cornhuskers
  2. I noticed Huard paused for a second and said Papuchis' name with authority. I chuckled at that bit. And the other guy says "They want those... Black.. Shirts" in an odd sense as if he's never heard of the term before? If you read up on Michigan boards some were complaining Huard was too bias for Nebraska. I only heard a small bit of bias and it wasn't necessarily for Nebraska he just hates when refs don't let the kids play and they consistently make flaky PI calls. And it's evident Bo's sideline demeanor doesn't bode well with not only referees but apparently announcers too. You would think a former player like Huard would appreciate a bit of fire from a coach.
  3. Well if he was injured he wouldn't have stayed in the entire game. He was a little shaken up. Replay his 29 yard scamper. Looked fine out there to me.
  4. I think Bo's defense is flexible enough to defend a pro style offense and spread offense with the exception of a dual threat qb of course so I think our D will play lights out next Saturday against Maxwell/Bell. Really can't imagine Mich St. hanging more than 17 on us. It could be a low scoring fight and if so, I like our offense' chances.
  5. Anybody but Ohio State or Penn State! Oh, wait...
  6. Another annoying thing is they showed a lot of Big 12 highlights during our game as if we never left the conference. What the heck was up with that??
  7. Huskers will win 30-13. I don't see MSU moving the ball much against our D and we will hold Bell to 60-80 yards rushing including a couple forced fumbles that we convert to points. MSU hasn't faced a dynamic offense as ours where they truly must defend the entire field.
  8. Lol I caught that too but to me during the 2 hour replay it sounds more like "Cornhuggers".
  9. I'm a homer, lol. I try to hold back on revealing my anger on a public board. I've been on the Husker wagon since the 90's and I'm pushing 30! So I'm more like one of those fans who mourns for the glory days
  10. Christmas came early!! Saw the twitter pics shortly after the game. A beautiful thing!
  11. Longtime lurker and I don't post a lot put plan on doing so more often. A couple things-- we are now in the driver's seat albeit with a head to head win against Michigan. Although Denard Robinson did get injured, his longest rush was I believe 7 yards. Yes, with him out of the game, everything changes. I liked how we attacked Michigan's redshirt frosh QB with confusing blitzes. It seems like when we dial up a blitz, we're pretty efficient and I love an attacking aggressive defense. We need to see more of this even if there is a dual threat under center! I thought Martinez played solid and was clutch with a couple good throws and scrambles but can someone PLEASE tell him to hold on to the rock as he goes towards the ground? I almost have a heart attack every time I see the ball fly out of his arms/hands. Also he needs to make better decisions during a run/pass option. He hesitates to gain 3-4 yards for the go ahead first down and that hesitation allows the defense to close on him. The defense controlled the line of scrimmage and shut down Michigan's running game. They really keyed in on Toussaint and he had no where to go. The linebackers were flying all over the place and I love the aggression from the secondary. A lot of questionable penalties were called but my biggest gripe is the offensive line. A lot of blown assignments, protection breakdowns which forced Martinez into quick decisions passing and running the ball however the down field blocking is superb (the receivers really need to be commended for their great blocking) even if our backs have a small lane to cut through. Just goes to show they don't give up on the play. This team has a lot of fight and has shown a lot of resolve. The win tonight was a good one but I think we all know we should probably hold judgements until the end and not get too ecstatic about the W. I do not see this team losing at home to PSU or Minnesota as long as our fans are jacked. Next weeks game against MSU will be huge but I think tonight's game may have painted a picture of what to expect. We cannot overlook any of our next opponents and get caught ala Northwestern 2011. Don't kid yourselves-- even with a possible 6-1 conference record heading into the "Heroes Game", it will be a dogfight at Iowa. What we do know is that we have always controlled our own destiny and yes, we are in the driver's seat with one hand on the wheel for the time being but remember remember the month of November. Can Pelini lead our Cornhuskers to the promised land through the next crucial month unhinged? Or will the wheels fall off? I'm going to keep enjoying this roller coaster season! I am hopeful that this team will ride all the way to Indianapolis!
  12. Without question. No one..... And I mean no one comes close.... Please don't shoot me, but imo the 71 NU team was even better. Sorry but husker nation voted the 95 team was better than the 71 squad via an ESPN poll which was broadcasted on tv where Kirk Herbstreit flips out there's a clip on YouTube. Always brightens my day!
  13. I can still remember it like yesterday didn't The Turmanator play against KSU? I remember a few clutch plays on his behalf and all the excellent handoffs to LP
  14. Thanks! Lol, MAYBE you will get a PM in the future with a set of numbers!
  15. (*WARNING* Long introductory post! Won't happen again!) So I've been lurking this site for too long, lol. Decided HB deserves better than that! Let me first start off by saying I visit HB daily and enjoy all the threads/topics people post around here! Born and raised in Omaha, I wasn't really a big football fan but my family would bleed red on Saturdays. I grew up with a Dad that when Husker games were on, it was time to STFU so to speak, lol. The one game that truly grabbed my attention (the one I'll remember the most similar to the 83 game vs. Miami that my Dad will always remember, I didn't understand the passion of Husker Nation until January 1st, 1994. Orange Bowl vs. Florida State. I remember my Dad on the edge of his seat saying, "Please, God, let this be it! Let this be it!!!" And we fought so hard. I remember Nebraska lining up for the kick and I kind of chuckled and looked at my Dad and said "it's gonna go left." He said, "Shut up! No it won't!" And we kicked it wide left. He immediately yelled at me and stormed out of the house screaming (that's a passionate fan for ya!) The Callahan years (gulp) kind of put a damper on him and now he's not so lively during games due to heart problems. Throughout Husker games, family and friends tell me to keep my mouth shut when I predict games because I'm almost spot on. I'm sure it's highly coincidence but, here's a list of games I have somewhat predicted: (please don't hate me for this!!) 94 Orange Bowl (I said the kick will miss to the left.) 96 Fiesta Bowl (told everyone we were going to embarrass Florida.) 1996 Arizona State (I told family (Dad and uncle) and friends we would get shut out. I was kicked out of the house midway through the game.) 1996 Big XII Championship (told Dad we would lose by ten, he grabbed his car keys and left right after the James Brown 66 yard Td toss.) 1998 Orange Bowl (told everybody at my Uncle's house we'd crush Tennessee and be voted champs. Didn't find out officially until the wee hours of the morning in which I stayed up until the announcement came.) 1998 Texas A&M/Texas (said before the year started that I thought they were for sure losses.) 1999 Texas (Kind of said we'd choke before game's end. We fumbled near the goal line. Nuff said.) Now here's the kicker, this game here is the last one I have EVER predicted and I learned my lesson. I will never again say before a game what's going to happen (except on here or in my own head, lol...) 2001 Colorado, 62-36. The pre-game, my Dad came downstairs decked in black. Black shirt, black pants, black socks. I questioned, "What's with the all black?" To which he replied, "Blackshirts, baby!!!" Unfortunately, I caught a gold watch on his wrist. I kind of chuckled and said, "The all black and gold watch represents Colorado's colors. You just jinxed us. We're gonna get blown out. We're gonna get embarrassed badly." At the end of the 1st quarter, Colorado led 28 to 3 my Dad aimed for my head and threw the remote then broke his watch and said to keep my mouth shut as I laughed. At half time, the score was 42-23. My Dad put a HUGE hole in the bathroom door. I remember seeing the little boy cry. I began to join him in what we were seeing the fall of an empire/dynasty. This is where it all came apart, IMO. 2008 to present has brought back hope. Now we're seeing a fallen empire on the rise, regaining energy and hope. Now we're in the B1G I'm confident we'll have a spectacular albeit exciting year. Forget Texas. Forget the B12. Put it behind you. The B1G offers a brutal schedule that I think is doable. They want us to prove we belong. And surely, we will. I'm the guy that supports Pelini and Co. I'm that guy that stands behind your starting QB instead of hurrying to play the backup. Look for Taylor Martinez and the running game to have a miraculous season, and the Blackshirts to have the best unit in the B1G of 2011. GBR!!!
