He will probably be a stud but I’d love to see a graph/research on how 4* or higher recruits who commit to multiple colleges pan out versus those who are solid to 1.

I’m sure you’ve convinced a couple of your buddies at your local tavern that Nelson could have been drafted and has all the potential in the world. All 60 something power 5 schools have a fan base that believe they have an athlete or two that are special but didn’t get drafted. The fact that you can’t comprehend a difference between him being a contributor in Rhule’s defense and still not getting drafted is curious. Nelson is a DE/OLB tweener that isn’t overly athletic. No one is trashing Nelson’s 4 year contribution at NU. If all 85 scholarship athletes had his heart, Nebraska football would be in a good place. Sadly, heart doesn’t equal potential.

If you’ve proven to be a slightly above average worker for 4 years, does a new boss make you that much better his first year? I think it’s so easy to say he could be this or that, but seeing how the last 2 coaching changes have went, I think it’s safer to say he would be wasting his time coming back. An Iowa kid got drafted 13th having never started a game. I think you and NFL scouts have a different definition of NFL potential.

Which NFL team would draft him next year and not this year? 50% of the draft is potential. Who wants to draft the Chris Weinke of ends?

If you don’t think colleges on the coast/nice weather areas or near large cities don’t have an instant advantage, then keep living in a dream. The rest of us with functioning eyes and some sanity left after what Riley and Frost put us through will believe we can get the top QB in the nation when it happens. There is a middle ground btw. Just because some don’t believe we can get Raiola this year doesn’t mean we can’t turn the program around in the next 2-3 years.
