  1. Whoever we get, I hope they influence Bo to alter his scheme so that the D-linemen actually are put in a position to penetrate and make plays in the backfield rather than just contain. DRIVES ME CRAZY!
  2. Who knows... If TO did not like Bo, he may have taken that situation and said, "Okay. See ya." I think that TO likes Bo and sees potential in how he runs his team and embraces Nebraska traditions. THAT is my take, right or wrong, on it. take it or leave it, I'm just throwin it out there. Someone asks you if there's any proof to your allegations about Carl sleeping around and you say, "Who knows..." That's some good proof you've got there. Who would have proof about something like that unless they were the ones involved? It is just widely believed that it happened, so take it at that.

  4. While he didn't say that Carl accepted the job, TO did comment on how he recommended him for the job. No doubt in my mind that TO wants Carl gone, so he is working to find him a job elsewhere. Are you a Politician? I don't see how you get TO wanting Carl gone out of TO putting in a good word for him to get a HC job. To me it looks more like a opportunity for a DC to take the jump to become a HC & he got a referal from a coaching legend. Agreed. Huskershark... how do you know what Tom wants or does not want? Are you a mind reader? I recommend people all the time that I would love to retain. Constantly actually. Those who get the best letters of recommendation from me are those that perform the best. I recognize that a great letter increases the likelihood that a great employee will leave... but that is simply what you do... you give an honest assessment when asked. Is it not possible that Tom Osborne might give a great recommendation for Carl because he thinks Carl is, in fact, great? I cannot know what Tom is thinking... but, then again, neither do you. It might just be a good rec for a good candidate. Have you been living in a nutshell and not heard about how Carl was sleeping with a booster's wife last year? TO wanted Bo to fire Carl, and Bo told him that if Carl goes, he goes too. Hence, Carl is still here, and TO is taking another route to send him away. No, I am not a mind reader. I'm just saying my interpretation of the situation. Sorry if I didn't spell it out for you.
  5. I understand your logic, but all of these guys would be here and gone in 2-3 years off to head coaching again, and we would be right back in the same spot. Bo might not make the glamour hires but these guys are going to do it his way, and they will more then likely be here for a long time, as they will not be sought after like stoops. It may take them a year or two to get everything down completely but once they do, then it could be a good working machine for awhile. I would like to hire stoops for the "wow" factor with recruits and fans alike, but i just dont see that happening. Bo will want the defense run his way. JP will do that. Bo took over calling the Defense this year again half way through the year, im sure he will do the same with JP learning. Besides JP is a hell of a recruiter and in a couple years when our defense gets back, he will be able to do some damage on the recruiting trail with that title. Welcome to College Football 2012. Its just a part of the game now-a-days. The days of keeping one staff in tact with very little changes for 10-15-20 years are gone. You're living in the past, man!! (seinfeld) I guess if we wanted to keep our coaches for longer, we could just hire a bunch of no-names... problem is, our record would likely reflect those hires. In fact we have... and it does. Oh, come on. We have the possibility of another ten-win season. How many coaches in America are possible of doing that as frequently as Bo and his staff have? Urban Meyer didn't even win 9 games his last year at Florida...

  7. Did you not watch auburn? They ran the spread, the same exact style as oregons. Florida's offense was a spread offense they just had a gator heavy package. Oregon also runs a formation like that in the shotgun heavy. If you watched all 3 teams play, they all ran the same style of spread offense, so yes spread offenses can easily win NC's. Listen, we can agree to disagree. I'm one for pro style offenses like Stanford and USC are running. You've seen this year how effective they are. Not only that, those types of offenses are effective against EVERY type of defense, whereas the spread like Leach ran will not do that. It CAN be shut down because it is one-dimensional. If we are going to be one-dimensional on offense, I would prefer that dimension to be running the ball rather than throwing it all over the field.

  9. Auburn and Florida had a lot of power in their running game with Newton and Tebow. Auburn also had Dyer and that other back, so by no means were either of these teams pure spread offenses. IMO the reason Oregon DIDN'T win last year is because they got haulted by a stronger Auburn defense who wasn't even that good. You've got to be able to get a push and run the ball between the tackles!
  10. Great offenses that win championships RUN the ball, not throw it. When you need to punch it in from the 2-yd line, you run it. Even Oregon's offense has showed that this area is the fall-off of a spread offense. They fail to convert in tight situations. So no thanks. I'm content with the path that we are on.
  11. I don't think Ekeler was pushed away at all. He was a great guy to have on the staff, he was just offered the DC job at Indiana. I did hear a rumor that TO wanted Bo to fire Carl after last season because of his personal life, but Bo told him if Carl goes so do I.
  12. Just have to wait and see. Don't sweat it though. Bo will take over the reins if Carl can't coach the bowl game. Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not worried. I'm just curious...
  13. Here's my question: Carl is being introduced on Monday, so does that mean he won't be around coaching the defense for the bowl game?...
  14. Well if we get Stoops, I would be happy to say the least. Only problem is, he is a big name guy and would likely get a head coaching position in a couple years again, forcing us to go through this process again. Buuuuuuut I'll still take him.
  15. Let's get Scott Frost as our Defensive coordinator!!!
  16. http://www.foxsportsdetroit.com/11/30/11/Suh-adopts-coachs-phony-persona/landing_lions.html?blockID=615548&feedID=3706 If you haven't read it, feel free to. I personally think this lady is an idiot and has no idea what she is talking about. How could Bo be held responsible when Suh was a very disciplined player at Nebraska? The logic just doesn't make any sense to me.
  17. I still find it amazing how people formulate these opinions after-the-fact. If our guys would have went in, blocked the punt, and returned it for a touchdown, people would have been praising Bo for making the call at the exact perfect time. And such is sports: everybody has the answers after-the-fact.
  18. Fine by me. Their loss is hopefully our amazing gain!
  19. It's amazing how he walks exactly the same in both pictures... And has the same guy with an Oregon hat following him... And how the cameraman caught him at the exact same angle both times... Wait a second... And if you couldn't tell:
  20. Michigan and Ohio State will definitely be our stiffest competition, and Penn State could potentially still be just as good if not better if they hire Bradley as the official head coach. With a coaching change, they will regress at least a couple years and possibly for a long time with impending NCAA discipline. Basically, I feel the same way as CornfedChris. It won't be an easy schedule by any definition of the word, but I am very confident that our returning players will be a lot for other teams to handle next year, especially if we get early contributions from Zaire, Siesay if he comes here, and any other recruits or redshirts that we have coming up for next year. Needless to say, I am very excited. GBR!!!
  21. They are still young. I look forward to seeing Kevin Williams, Todd Peat, and Jay Guy make an impact. I know these kids are just freshmen, but I'm kind of surprised we didn't see at least one of them play this year, considering all the injuries on the D-line. I thought we'd at least see Jay Guy play (didn't he enroll early last year?) Jay Guy did play this year. Not a lot but some
  22. I think best-case scenario is to have Oklahoma State win convincingly, persuading voters to bump OSU above Bama. Not sure about the rest of you, but I don't want to watch a championship rematch...
