  1. Disagree. It takes a great coach to take CSU to 10-2. Not true. We all know that Bo could have taken them to 10-2. Their schedule was weak.
  2. Would love this to be true. Tressel is old enough that Frost could believe that he's the coach in waiting. I'd be all for this. However, my gut instinct is that Frost wants to be top dog somewhere, now.
  3. I tried the TG argument a few days ago and got (rightfully) torched. He's not the man for the job.
  4. If he goes to the Gators, let's hope he's Ron Zook 2!
  5. When it comes to picking a coach, I don't like coaches who are supposedly good coaches, but have only had pedestrian winning records. Take McElwain for instance. He has coached at CSU for three years. He's had one good year, this year. In the previous two years, he had a losing record, 12-14. Yeah, CSU had a good year, but they only have one semi-quality win, a victory over Boston College. The rest of their schedule was pretty-much patsies. I think it's risky diving for a guy who has only had one good season. McElwain is similar to Brady Hoke, who had several losing seasons at Ball State but then took them to 12-1. The point is that a good coach should have a good record over time AND have demonstrated the skills of a good football coach. Yes, you can argue that Scott Frost can't be trusted. And you would be partially right. Yes, both Frost and McElwain could come here and both do very well. But, the reality is that neither has a long enough body of work to determine whether they will actually be good, or just be another Brady Hoke. It's easy to get infatuated with a guy because he becomes the flavor of the month. Now that Florida is pursuing McElwain, he is suddenly supposedly a better coach. The guy still has only one winning season.
  6. Worries me that both of these guys wrote the foreward in Eichorst's book. Also, they both have the very personality that Eichorst prefers (i.e., not "energy vampires"). It would suck if either of these retreads got the job, especially Sweeney. We've already had one Bo here. Don't need a Da-Bo.
  7. Yeah, Jim Tressel rode into town on the cable repairman's truck for the interview. No chance. Eichorst wants a man who scrupulously follows rules. Tressel is the furthest thing from this.
  8. No chance. Tressel still under penalty until 2016. Would have to quit job as University president, also. Also, high school kids aren't exactly enamored with playing for a 61 year old geezer. As for Bielema, he is just starting to take off at Arkansas. He's not going to walk out.
  9. Heard he dyed his hair shoe-polish black this morning.
  10. My top three: 1. Scott Frost 2. Greg Schiano 3. The Dude from Colorado State
  11. No chance. The guy BOMBED at Michigan. No chance we'd take him.
  12. I'm not in Lincoln anymore, so I did not know this. However, I still think it will actually have to happen before Eichorst does anything. Eichorst strikes me as a careful guy. He won't pull the trigger until he's absolutely sure there is a problem.
  13. Do you honestly think the sellout streak will end? Honestly? If BC couldn't kill it with his abysmal death march of 2007, then nothing will kill it. Would love for you to be right, but reality says that the streak isn't ending.
  14. Two huge things that we have overlooked while waiting for "the Decision": 1. There will be no announcement. Eichorst will not let the Message Boards and paranoid fans (self included) dictate whether he needs to "make an announcement" to calm their nerves. He is perfectly fine with Pelini and sees no need to constantly reaffirm his support for Pelini. His silence on the issue will tell Husker nation who is in charge. 2. We all forget that Eichorst had NOTHING to do with the first 5 years of Pelini's career and couldn't care less about it. He is only focusing on these past two years. If you objectively look at the last two years, there was one bad loss, Wisconsin. Other than that, we played well (Yes, we had close calls, but won many of those close calls). Yeah, we blew the UCLA game, but coaches don't get fired for losing a game by 20 points. Looking only at the body of work from the last two years, no way in the world would Eichorst fire Pelini. I want Pelini 100% gone, but I've been looking at this all wrong. He's not going anywhere. We can all stop fantasizing about angry boosters, sellout streaks ending, and what your cousin heard from the cable repair guy, Pelini is staying. And there will be no announcement. Eichorst has already made his announcement. We just weren't listening.
  15. Dude, you beat me to it. Even I wouldn't come up with an idea like this.
  16. If Bama loses tonight, watch the pollsters launch Missouri from #17 all the way to no. 6.
  17. Gill made the classic mistake of taking a D-1 job even though it was the worst on the market. Should have stepped up to a San Diego State type school before going to a power 5 school. I think he could have been a really good coach. However, the disaster at Kansas has scared everyone. I don't blame schools for being scared, but I still think he can coach.
  18. How is this even possible? How does a guy suddenly "figure out" to be a leader when he hasn't until this date?
  19. No chance that the SEC gets two teams in the playoffs. Zero. 1. Alabama (i.e., if they don't lose tonight!) 2. Oregon 3. FSU 4. Baylor (if they beat soon-to-be #10 K-State). Others looking in: 5. TCU 6. tOSU (since their QB broke his ankle tonight, the committee knows they have no chance of winning. They won't waste a spot on a team with a gimpy ankle).
  20. Before you say "heck no" (or something worse), look at what this man has done: Buffalo - - This team was 8-49 in 5 years before he arrived. Three years later, they won the conference. Kansas - - Be fair to the man: Could ANYBODY have done well with that bare cupboard? Worse yet, the Big 12 was simultaneously at its Apex during his brief, 2-year stint. Not even Tom Osborne could have had a winning record under those conditions. Liberty - - Three winning seasons in a row. They have gotten better each season. They are currently in the semi-finals of the FCS playoffs. Turner has NEVER had talent at any of his stops. He has always had to pick the leftovers after schools like Akron, Toledo, or North Texas have finished picking through the rubble. Imagine what this man could do with some actual talent. I'm not advocating hiring someone just because they were a former Husker. This man can coach and he's still young enough. Better yet, he has grown since his days at Kansas. Also he won't be learning on the job. Be honest: Wouldn't it be nice to have a coach who actually loved being a Husker? Turner has always been a winner. Imagine Turner getting the team ready for Wisconsin. None of this four-man-rush, fall-on-your-face B.S. Turner would have us winning these games. Would love to see Turner come home.
  21. If Bo comes back, let's shell out some real money for coaches. Our coaches get peanuts compared to other places and we have TONS of cash to pay more. Would like to see Will Muschamp get $1.2 million to come in as D-coordinator. Tired of NU always trying to play the old "aw shucks, we don't have much money to pay our coaches" card.
  22. Yes, you have solved the riddle to our problems. It's not Bo, it's Lincoln.
  23. Because more people respond to my threads than any other poster!
  24. Agree. I'm dreaming. What I am saying is that "if" we are stuck with Bo, then this is the only scenario that would give me any hope. If the entire staff is back, I'm not tuning in next year until about game 8. I'm tired of building up false hopes, only to get destroyed when we play the first meaningful game. Yes, question my loyalty all you want. I'm just being frank with you.
