  1. Yeah, the 13 was from his time at OSU, and the 51 is at NU. Actually I think the #13 line is for his entire time at both schools (thus the -6 from last year) while the #51 is just last year. I hadn't noticed that he was at #13 so they must have accidentally listed the #51 line.
  2. Here are their "Coach Effect" rankings for all current Power 5 coaches. It seems like they are going back 8 years but I'm not sure why some coaches are shown from previous schools but others - like Riley - only have the stats for the time they've been at their current school.
  3. This seems like an interesting site. But they don't do a particularly good job of explaining their process. This is the first time I've actually seen a talent ranking - which seems to be mostly based on average recruiting class ranking. Then they do a "Coach Effect" which I've never really been able to find a great explanation of either but mainly comes down to which team was "expected" to win based on the talent available with some adjustment for home/away. Anyway, this is the first time I've seen their talent ranking list. Pretty similar to other lists but kind of confirms the "talent" on the roster.

  6. Osborne's decision was not SOLELY for the benefit of Lawrence Phillips. Yes, Ahman was amazing and no, it turns out we didn't really need Lawrence to beat Florida. But that game was supposed to be more competitive, and the smart move is to get your Heisman candidate running back on the field (purely from a football perspective). Putting Lawrence Phillips back on the team and on the field to "help him" implies there weren't other ways to help him, including counseling, incarceration, etc. Football was not the only way to help him. It just so happened that football also greatly benefited Tom Osborne. It also happened to be the only option that Osborne had direct control over. And apparently counseling (I assume) and incarceration (obviously) didn't help either.

  9. Nothing like talking and laughing down the stretch as you're running faster than basically everyone in history. That was fun.
  10. Exactly. Just like it shouldn't be that hard to accept the fact that some bad things went on along with a lot of good things, it's also not that hard to see where it's entirely possible that some of the bad things that happened were the result of choices and actions that were done with good (possibly naive) intentions and not ulterior or malicious intent.
