  1. Stanton, I think, is a better passer He's a better runner too. The guy is a truck. A more shifty Tebow (running) with way better passing. So, if I'm reading that correctly...you just said he's a better version of arguably the best college qb ever? No he's more shifty than Tebow, not a stretch as Tebow plowed guys over. I never said a better runner. But yes Tebow as a freshman wasn't near the passer Stanton is. Plus When you can dump off drags and screens to Percy all game, you're gonna look good. C'mon yall. The kid hasn't played a game at this level yet. Remember... "Everybody's got a plan til they get punched in the face."
  2. Ugh....forgot we still have PSU...not really interested anymore... I still care. Go out and be respectable. Win out and finish the season 10-3. You're including the bowl game. There's no guarantee he'll beat either team left on the regular season schedule.
  3. Absolutely. How bad do these guys want it? This game isn't over. If they come out and march down the filed to score a TD, this game will be over. We'll see if Pelini can light a fire under these kids arses or not fairly quickly. I have my doubts after how we started and played the first half as these kids have to know what this game means. He's been here 6 years - has he ever been able to 'light a fire? C'mon, you knew that was a silly statement to make even before you posted it. Pelini has come back and rallied the troops from bigger and more dire circumstances. That aspect of his coaching isn't in question. Coaches don't have to wait for the circumstances to get 'dire' to light a fire, my friend.

Nah, our defense will be rested enough to shut them down I feel. But if we give up another turnover that leads to points, then it's over

  6. Oh, we certainly can, and our defense doesn't concern me at all. But I just don't see the turnover problem ceasing. It's just mind-numbingly awful. Turnovers have been a problem since Mark Pelini has been the head coach. That comes from something some folks may not want to hear.... An undisciplined coaching staff creates undisciplined players. Ball security, stupid penalties, and playing smart is something that can be coached.
  7. Really? What game are you watching? I'm assuming we are watching the same game, so I'll also assume that you comprehension is not quite up to par. Tommy Armstrong not a coach. Terrell Newby, not a coach. Westerkamp, also, not a coach. There you go, four turnovers, none of them coaches. Hope that helps bud. But all of these mistakes are fixable by the COACHING. In practice. I'd have to agree with GBR's assessment.
  8. And the killer of it all - Sparty's D is getting actually run on between the tackles.
  9. IT's called a freshman QB making freshman mistakes, not a lack of discipline One by Westerkamp. Three by Armstrong. That's a lack of discipline. Ball Security comes from discipline. 2 by armstrong 1 by Newby No, sir - the late pitch was by Armstrong. The pitch was high and lazy. Thumb to the sky when you pitch it. Don't pitch it in that situation. That's on the QB.

  11. Lovin it. The D needs to be nasty. People need to fear them. At least it shows people that the D does have a pulse and spirit.
  12. "Everybody's got a plan til they get punched in the face." -Mike Tyson It's obvious the blitz is working. I'm not saying blitz on every down, but get them into 3rd and long then pin em back.
  13. Why can't you run a screen pass? Ameer is perfect for running that. Doesn't even have to be a middle screen - line Ameer up on the outside and run a tunnel screen to him.
  14. That's a good point. To put it best, "Everybody's got a plan until they get punched in the face."
  15. That's the question though... can this patchwork OL, missing three starters from the beginning of the year, maintain that physicality for the entire game? Can it generate it in the first place? If they stay ahead of the chains, they've got a shot. That depends on the game plan that Beck draws up for this game. Sparty's D is very aggressive. You can't put Armstrong back there on first and second down to pass all the time. Win first down if you can. Mix in a screen pass or two. And don't think that the option is working this weekend.
  16. If they had blitzed on every down last Saturday, it would have gotten there. That's how bad Fichigan is. They're the Donnie Brasco of the B1G right now.
  17. If Beck gets pass happy (like he's shown to do at times), this will be a very short game for the offense. Line up in the I, pound the rock. Setup for play action passing, hit big passes over the top on occasion. Ball control offenses excel against defenses like this one if they are physical enough.
  18. Return game? We don't need no stinking return game! That is all. Sincerely,
  19. Because Sparty's defense has been consistently good all season long. Still have to see a consistent game from the young Husker D.
