  1. Note a good start to the weekend. We need to take the next two games. This team seems pretty uneven right now. One awful weekend, one great weekend, one really bad game (offensively)
  2. Doc won an NIT game, maybe 2? Maric's senior year. Doesnt excuse his record, but just sayin. Yes, he won with Collier's team. Which is the other really sad thing. Doc's teams have only gotten worse, the more of his own players he's brought in.
  3. While the bad conference records are indictment enough of a coach who clearly doesn't really know what it takes to win in the Big12/10, the way his teams finish the season really tell a story. Last year, after winning three in a row, including beating Texas, Nebraska lost five of their last six games. This year, after beating Iowa, Nebraska has lost seven of their last 8. Two years ago, Nebraska lost 10 of their last 12. Four years ago, they lost six of their last 9. Over the last four years, Doc has gone 12-31 in February and March. That includes an 0-2 record in the NIT. Fire this chump Monday morning.
  4. They didn't. You might want to check your math. Gotta give you that one. But at the same time...UNO scored twice the points that NU did. We also held Michigan State to about 50 points less. Hell, Michigan State just about had as many points in the FIRST HALF against UNO as they did in the entire game against us. This loss was better than UNO's. Having said that, holy crap we're terrible.
  5. Yeah, obviously not pleased that they managed to go down 7-3, but with four games in three days I'd imagine our pitching was a bit tuckered out. Being over .500 at this point in the season is definitely a plus. Ideally we'll sweep next weekend too, with West Virginia, New Mexico State and Minnesota all being mediocre to bad. 7-3 would be a nice record to start the home slate with, especially considering better play last weekend could have had us a 7-0 or 6-1 record right now. As I said last night, the Big 10 is looking even worse than I thought, if we can shore up our rotation AND our pen just a little more, there's no reason to think we won't challenge for the conference title. I really want to be excited about this team, next weekend should tell us where we really are. Anything less than 2-1 will be really disappointing. Also, gotta like the way the bats performed this weekend. I don't think there are any all-american type pitchers in the Big Ten, if we can keep hitting, that's gonna be a big plus. There is no way Nebraska could ever contend for a Big 10 title.....not with DE at the helm You know I never said that......right?
  6. This letter worries me because Hawks is giving credit to Doc when none is deserved. He's got money, if he wants Doc to stay, that could be just the incentive Tom needs to keep him.
  7. Well, there's also the risk of the local newspaper writers looking like their campaigning for Doc to lose his job. They can't write an article every week about how much he sucks, because he might actually be back, no matter how unlikely or how bad a decision that would be. I mean, in the recap article on the LJS, they did point out how bad a performance this was, there just wasn't a follow up editorial mentioning how badly Doc needs to leave.
  8. Exactly, people point to injuries as the reason this season has been so bad, but when you look at next year....there really aren't any bodies to replace the ones we're losing. We'll be lucky to match this year's record with next year's team if Doc is still here. That's the real problem, not only isn't Doc a particularly good X's and O's guy, he's an awful recruiter, despite everyone claiming he's so likable.

  10. No doubt. This won't be like the Cally firing where you want to punch him in the face as he goes. I'd like to shake Doc's hand and sincerely thank him for giving it hell. At the same time, he HAS to go. You don't recover from this. He's made enough incredibly stupid comments that I'd be fine with punching him in the face.
  11. So it happens all the time, and as soon as you have time to research it, you'll prove just how often it occurs? Do you see the irony here yet?
  12. 11 points with 3 minutes to go in the first half? Doc totally needs another year.
  13. I'm absolutely rooting for us to lose out and lose out badly. We need to make the decision to cut Doc loose a no-brainer. That's how this program gets better. This season is lost anyway, one or two more wins is nothing to get excited about at this point and they could do the program harm
  14. Frustrating, yes. However, we had no chance to keep either one so it really doesn't bother me too much.. Just how far we've fallen that bothers me. I'll never concede that we couldn't have kept Childress had we named him HC instead of Anderson, but yes, it was more an observation on how well our former coaches are doing, while we're trying to basically rebuild the program.
  15. Can I just say how depressing it is so see Rob Childress' Texas A&M team ranked 4th and Dave Van Horn's Arkansas team ranked 5th. Meanwhile, we're talking about how Texas A&M CC will be a decent test for us. SIGH
  16. Took advantage of some walks and HBP with well timed hits.. The bats are going and yes, Utah is BAD. The next game could be a good measuring stick agains A&MCC.. they aren't great by any means, but they are better than Utah by far. I see Texas A&M CC took 3 of 4 from UNO. STATE PRIDE!!!! WE NEED REVENGE!!!!!
  17. Yeah, it doesn't help that Illinois fell off a damn cliff. I just watched Missouri vs Kansas and both those team would blow the doors off of just about any team in the Big Ten. Which is one of the reasons I'm glad we're in THIS conference. Get a good coach, and we can compete for titles.
  18. 15-0 now! I wish the link to the live stats actually took you to the live stats so I could see how we scored
  19. wow! Offense woke the eff up for this game! I would caution those who get real excited about this game that Utah is obviously a pretty bad baseball team. They're about to fall to 1-6 on the season, lost 9-2 to UNLV earlier today and lost 3 of 4 to UC Davis to open the season. Having said that, at least so far, the Big Ten has looked worse than I even expected, The conference sure seems to be ours to lose with some fight put up by Ohio State. And before someone claims this is a 180 from my opinion last weekend, it's not. I knew the Big Ten wasn't going to be the real test, if Erstad is going to measure up as a good head coach, he's not only going to have to have us competing for the Big Ten title every year, but building us into the CLASS of the conference.
  20. I didn't realize this was an afternoon game until I heard the final score 20 minutes ago on my drive home. It's good to get that first win under their belts. Doesn't seem as though the competition this weekend is very stout so this would be a real good time to pad the record. Sounds like Hirsch was lights out.
  21. I know FAU and Florida Atlantic are the same thing, I'm saying we also played them a few years ago.
