  1. Point out where I have said anything but being surprised about our record. Pure and simple, there has been much luck involved (and a bunch of hard work). You are right in that it is fun to gloat a bit, as Nebraska is no longer a top tier team, and there fans are no longer "the greatest blah, blah, blah" I think that many threads on this forum will support that. I think that our chances are slight to win either championship. Over and out, see you all next year!
  2. Actually, many of us do come in here to read all of the BS posted by all of the armchair coaches out there! I think that this year has proven that no longer you are the greatest fans. As proof was all of the applause while our guy was damn near knocked out on a cheap shot. Absolutely horrible. Might as well remove the sign. Bo Polini was right on! The weekly rants of firing everybody must be embarrassing to the real fans. Once again, maybe Bo was right. If you want to see class, Ferentz benched one of his star players for a quarter for being LATE to a team meeting. It was not like a rape was committed at his house, he was just late to a freaking meeting! Back when you were good, we had to hear about it. No longer. This program will not become what it was, ever. That all said, there are a few of you (like many on this thread) that have it in perspective. The guy that I really feel sorry for is Gangwish. What a class act that kid is. Any team of any kind would be better with a kid like that on it. Good luck in your bowl game and we will see you in iowa city a year from now! BTW, before you comment, please really think about what I have said. Would you be so keen to make a rape accusation if your name were made public as well as this post? It's amazing what people will say when they falsely believe they possess a shred of anonymity in an online message board... Please read it again. I did not say that a rape was committed anywhere, just that being late to a meeting was "not like a rape was committed at his house"? Why so sensitive?
  3. I agree with you, it has been a very soft schedule. We were very lucky to wind it up play playing Nebraska, as it was a bit like a bye week so that we can ready for the championship. Will you be there? Keep dodging MSU, Michigan, OSU and Penn State Lets go Michigan State or Ohio State in the B1G title game Did Iowa make up this schedule? I will admit the soft non-conference schedule, but how can you say we dodged anybody when the conference makes the schedule?
  4. She said that she thinks that she remembers you, and she thanks you! She is a hooker and gets laid several times a day. When you screwed her, she said that you were so small that it gave her a nice break. I'm sure she does get laid several times a day, the inbreeding problem in that state is out of control I will let her know you said hi
  5. I would agree that 12-0 is "somewhat of a good season"! We have been very lucky this year, but wins are wins! I highly doubt that we will win out, as I do not think that we should even be in the top 5, let alone top 10. What I do know though, is that we beat Nebraska and that always makes for a good day! You do have volleyball to look forward to, though.nwe really suck at that!

  8. [quote name= Welcome to mediocrity ? Well thanks , you'd know , as Iowa is mediocrity defined. Oh wait, you're 12-0? -- and still getting no respect from the college football world ! Any real Iowa fan has to acknowledge that we are very fortunate to be where we are at. Some may even say lucky, and I cannot disagree. We do not ask for or even desire respect, especially yours. Where is the respect of your program? Look through these threads and you will see that Huskers themselves do not respect you team, coaches, or even other fans. That all said, we are 12 and 0 and you are not. Have a piece of humble pie with your leftover turkey! The fact that your fans applauded our guy that was damn near knocked out by a cheap shot should embarrass each and every one of you. One again, Bo's rant may have been right on! Hate us more while watching us playing for the Big 10 championship while your team is at home. In fact, ditto for our bowl game!
  9. Worst Nebraska team, worst Nebraska coaches, worst Nebraska fans, worst Nebraska season. To allot of people, this is music to our ears! You suck and you will for years to come. Welcome to mediocrity! No offense to the original poster that has some class.

  11. Agreed. Bigger, more physical in the B1G does take a different type of team makeup. As far as at Jethro's, if i was there I would have stood up with my Hawkeye jacket on and we both would have kicked his ass. At the very least I would have had words with him. As you can see in my posts, I am all for "trash talkin'", but there is no room for that. As with all schools, the bottom 20% of fan bases are made up of ignorant folks that are pretty much idiots. As far as a conference, the analogy of "a rising tide will raise all boats" should be in all of our best interest. the revenue sharing that we do and the B1G Network go a long ways in doing that. A strong conference means better players, better fans, and better football. The challenge is that a really great conference made up of several strong teams may beat up on each other enough that we may never have a National Championship from within the conference. It is a tough accomplishment to win all of your games when you are in the B1G. This is not a 2 team league. One last quote: "If he can put his pride aside, if he can stop hiring his friends and trying to create the coaching legacy, if he can get the right assistants around him, Nebraska will accomplish what it wants to accomplish." Wellll.......If I was 6'5", 325 pounds and could run a 4.4, I'd be a hell of a football player too! That is a whole lot of if's! I hope you guys change my thoughts about you, I really do, but it's gonna be hard. It will also be hard for many to change their opinions about Nebraska fans, and that is one of the reasons this will grow into a great rivalry!
  12. .......and it is funny how he is standing under a sign that says something about the greatest fans in college football! I know tons of Nebraska fans that are very, very into the Nebraska football team, but I cannot say that I have bumped into many that I would call "bad" fans. Actually, I would say that the average Nebraska fan probably knows more about the game of football than the average college fan out there. BRPW- Picked on allot when little?

  14. Not discrediting anything, just agreeing that the Big 8, overall, was a much weaker conference week in and week out. Not much to disagree on there. Very well said!
  15. Exactly! Whenever I fail miserably at something (like Nebraska on Black Friday) the first thing that I want to do is blame everything else (read all of the threads as a reminder). I would not care when you play Iowa because it would still be a game. Nebraska of today is not even close to what they used to be. If you would have played Ohio State on black Friday they would have hung 70 on you and may very well have shut your anemic offense totally down (like holding you to less than 100 yards rushing was not enough). Besides, I bet that Ohio State, Michigan, or Penn State would want to play a better team on Black Friday so that they could build their national reputation. Why in the world would they want to play a lessor team?
  16. We didn't have a problem blasting the Hawkeyes when we were in the Big 8 Big 12 or the Big Ten save for this year. And please, the Big 8 was no less daunting than the Big 10 back then. I get it, Iowa is a loyal longtime Big Ten member. What's funny is you're basically saying the reason Nebraska lost to Iowa is because all the other teams in our conference beat Nebraska up before the Hawkeyes got a shot. Thankyou for admitting that, we felt the same way here in Nebraska. When in the Big 8 (well, Big 2 as mentioned before) Nebraska always had the luxury of rolling into the end of the season very healthy partly because the competition, or lack of it, during the regular season. It will not be that way for Nebraska any more. Part of the reason for an Iowa win was that the rest of the conference kicked the crap out of your players, I agree. I need no thanks for that. Based on that argument, think if you would have played Iowa sooner in the season, and then played Ohio State on Black Friday. Nebraska would be far more embarrassed today, because they could have lost by 70. You cannot play every team in the B1G the first week of the season. It is a long season and there will be some injuries. Iowa has them every year. The indy 500 is 500 because the Indy 2 would be pretty boring (a bit like the old Big 8). The race is as much about making it to the end as it is about being fast. You have to be strong at the beginning, the middle, and the end of the race to win. That is why winning it means something. With the Big 8 it was really only about 1 game at the end of the year. A conference championship trophy from the old Big 8 really does not mean allot, other than you beat Oklahoma with a team that was healthy due to a season full of weak competition. I also hear all the whining about turnovers. Could it be that the defensive play had something to do with them? It may not have just been about how weak Nebraska was, but maybe it has something to do with how good Iowa defense was. Iowa did force the turnovers, whether it was from hard hits, reading the play, or pressure from the pass rush causing a bad pass. Nebraska fans pretty well talk about these turnovers like they gave Iowa the game. Maybe, just maybe, Iowa won the game because they forced these turnovers. As far as Iowa State? Because both are in state, there will always be some rivalry. Some may speak of it as a "super bowl", but most do not. In some of Iowas weak years (mainly due to injuries, but that excuse only counts for Nebraska) it has been a big game to rally around, but that is about it. Nebraska did not "lower" itself by coming into the B1G. They came from a weak conference that they used to dominate back when they were good. Today, besides being in a tougher conference, Nebraska is just not as good as they used to be. This includes the coaching staff (read all of the threads), the players (read all the threads), and the fans (read all of the threads). Iowa and Nebraska is a rivalry, and will continue to get stronger. Nebraska does have some history, but it is just that, history. It is no longer a national powerhouse with the kind of prominence that will have kids begging to play there (read all of the threads). Anybody that does not think that it will be a huge game in Iowa City next year is nuts! Yes, that is a rivalry!
  17. Exactly my point about the B1G. Most weekends it is a very physical smash mouth football game that some people may very well get hurt. The days of Nebraska breezing through the schedule to be healthy for the conference or national championship are long gone. It is just not that way in the B1G. If Iowa is not already, we will become a rivalry in a few short years. Also get used to 2, 3 or 4 loss seasons. If you win a B1G conference championship, you will know that you did something, unlike the days of the Big 2. To help make the rivalry, I'll also volunteer to stop back now and then just to stir the pot a bit! I am confused, though. It seems like just a few days ago, Bo was a lowlife no-good, and all of a sudden he is the mesiah?
  18. Amen, you are exactly right! A coach blaming injuries is really pointing the finger back at himself, most of the time.
  19. Once again, that is looking back when the Huskers were good, week in and week out. They are no longer that good, and everybody has to agree on that (supported by the polls). Iowa is the best chance to build a great B1G rivalry, not some drempt up rivalry where a top tier team would even want to play a lesser team. I wrote that intended for the skewed stats for Iowa's bcs/january games. As far as the rivalry we will have to see. You had a 4-8 season last year and 7-4 the year prior. Hence the 8 wins this year has people going insane. I'm not saying in recent we are far apart just still a little bit different expectations still. The last two years we have had a ton of injuries, especially in the backfield. I don't suppose you knew that, though, as having been in the B1G a long time, we do not use injuries as an excuse. It is a long, hard hitting season, and it takes both mental and physical toughness. BTW, welcome to the B1G!
  20. Once again, that is looking back when the Huskers were good, week in and week out. They are no longer that good, and everybody has to agree on that (supported by the polls). Iowa is the best chance to build a great B1G rivalry, not some drempt up rivalry where a top tier team would even want to play a lesser team.
  21. Of course! Allot of truth in there (of course with a decent amount of sarcasm also as Huskers and Hawkeyes cannot be friends...............damn, there is that sarcasm again!)
  22. EbyHusker- This statement absolutely makes you sound like some kind of inbred that has never made it out of the tiny Nebraska town you grew up in (I do not think that you are, your statement just makes you sound that way). You have "yet to meet anybody from that state that (you) feel is worth anything at all"? Either you are so hurt that your Huskers, Coach and fans (yes, all of them that left early) laid a big egg last Friday, or you are just plain stupid (you are not that guy from "Slingblade" are you?) I know a ton of great people from Nebraska and we hassle each other year around about football. There have been many years in that past where they got to be pretty lippy, but at least for this year, I doubt that we will hear much from them. One thing for sure, what happened on the field this past Friday will definitely heat up the fans from both teams. Gotta love college football. Eby- Next time you go to Memorial and look up at that whole "Through these doors..........", just think for a second about the statement that you just made, and then ask yourself if you agree with that statement. That said, maybe you sneak in a side door! I hope that you are able to make it to Iowa City next year and see that we are pretty decent people.
  23. Being a hard core Nebraska fan is somewhat clouding your judgement of Iowa not having appeal (just as mine is with Iowa). Hopefully this game will bring both teams along. I guess that I am the opposite in that I think that it is a great way to end the B1G season. Injuries will always play a role on the hind end of the B1G season. It is a tough league. Winning the conference takes winning all the way through the schedule, not just certain games. A National Championship out the B1G may be tough, just due to how we beat up on each other week in and week out. Injuries play a huge role. For a few years, Iowa had no running backs due to injuries (well, and some other stuff). Being "empty" in the backfield will kill any B1G offense, just as it did. I am hoping that next years game in Iowa City will at least have league championship implications, and both teams come in healthy and ready to play. 2, 3, and 4 years from now, I think that we will definitely have the upper hand, as keeping Bo around "just to see" has got to hurt recruiting if nothing else.
  24. Wow, i think that you are giving Nebraska the kind of credit they deserved, actually earned, 15 years ago. This is not the same program by any means. Any perennial NC contender would not want to play Nebraska, as a win would do nothing for them. Do you really believe that in a snapshot of right now (not historically) that Nebraska is that much better than Iowa? Is is different now because you are in a physical league that batters players, no matter what shape they are in? Part of being a winner is being able to field a team for the whole year, not just part of a season. the B1G is a physical conference and until Nebraska toughens up, Iowa will continue to bet you (assuming the Black Friday game) and you will continue to watch the B1G Championship on TV. Could it be that Nebraska had an advantage in the past by playing in a less physical league? One way for Nebraska to get back to prominence would be to embrace the Iowa rivalry. If your wining causes you to lose out on the Black Friday game, you may very well fall out of any relevance at all. Myself I see it raising both schools up.
